With hindsight, Pedro would probably have been a better option than Depay, but then that sort of hindsight is rarely available to a manager. But Pedro will still never be much more that a fairly good squad player, and his showings at Chelsea this season have shown he only really turns up when the rest of the team are playing well, so dodging that one was a wise move in the end. Ultimately the list of players SAF 'missed out on' is as long as my arm and none of those really hurt us. So I'll judge LVG, or whoever replaces him, based on who they do sign rather than who they don't.
