Not sure if anyone has brought this up already, but what do you think about the possibility of Wembley stadium being renamed to incorperate a new sponsor? Wembley Stadium would still be named in the title, i.e. Wembley Stadium in association with the happy egg company or something along those lines...perhaps not. What are your thoughts on this and other stadiums with heritage being renamed, such as St James Park? Is anyone bothered like i am or should i just get used to it as it's a money making scheme that all clubs will use now? How would everyone feel if we were renamed Frydays fish & chip stadium rather than Vicarage Road? Just a few thoughts in my head...
I don`t think that the name is that important as long as an old stadium stays at it's original venue. If our stadium did get a new name I would still call it Vicarage Road because that's where it is. What is absolutely out of the question as far as I am concerned would be a move to a new, out of town, stadium which has no history to it. As long as clubs stay put then fans use their own name for the stadium anyway.

Even if Wembley Stadium had a name change all supporters would call it Wembley. i can not imagine this We are the famous Watford FC and were off to the WXYZ Arena
Very true, and tradition dies hard. In Oz, the stadium that is the home of both the Brisbane Broncos and Brisbane Roar actually has two official names. When the Broncos play, it is Suncorp Stadium and when the Roar play Asian Champions League matches it is Brisbane Stadium. Prior to being rebuilt, the stadium was known for around 90 years as Lang Park - no prizes for guessing what the majority of locals call it.
Be very careful who sponsors the stadium. Lancaster Park, in Christchurch, became the AMI stadium. AMI is an insurance group. When the stadium collapsed as a result of the earthquake guess who asked the city to pay for the building of a new one. Not good publicity.
Does that mean that Dagenham & Redbridge have got it right as their ground is sponsored by the local council?
like pretty much everyone i guess, i hate when stadiums are forced to change their name in the name of sponsorship, but it's true to say that Newcastle fans, for example, still call their stadium St James' Park, can't see that changing any time soon...i'm sure we'd be the same Wembley? Can't be anything else, we'll still call it Wembley..after all, it's where it is...my home town...
Don't agree that new stadia are always soul less but existing stadiums with a bit of history tend to carry the names of where they are so its an identity thing. As for the Vic, its where it is and hopefully will remain and be improved over the next few years, but more recently I have experienced a soul less atmosphere. As a kid I can remember a different kind of atmosphere, especially at night, that was electric and full of anticipation; I hope that will return. If we were to get a new Stadium I suspect it would be somewhere near the Leavesden M25 slip and if designed well could have some soul. As for the name, ?
Interesting responses there guys and i suppose so long as the stadium doesn't move it will always be the vic to us. So maybe a stadium sponsor is the way forward if we get ourselves in to the Prem and need more cash to stay there.

Apt Leo although wouldn't take long to become the quidditch Arena. Speculation on my part but looking at the JJB aka the DW and St James Park aka the Sports Direct wotsit it seems that existing grounds get into trouble when a 'brand' is lumped on, this leads to resentment from the faithful. Now take two new grounds; the Liberty and the Brittania, don't see many problems with the brand name there in fact have a look at what good branding and marketing can do. http://www.liberty-stadium.com/ I guess the Pozzos would like some say in all of this so therefore expect something like the Calzone...
