Yep, I was there in the rain! Great win. And remember it was also pissing down with rain for our televised League Cup semi 2nd leg at home to Forest the year before? And how we so nearly put out the big boys to go to Wembley? I know I was on the open terrace where the Atyeo is for the Forest game (got soaked), can't remember where I was for the Chelsea match though. I want to say the open terrace, but can't be sure.

And anyone else here at the League Cup semi final 1st leg at home to Spurs in Dec 1970? Finished 1-1, Alan Skirton for us, Alan Gilzean for them. I was at that one too, happily in the dry in the Williams Stand!

Yes to all 3 I was also at the 2nd leg that we lost at WHL either 1-0 or 2-0 after extra time so near yet so far. Was in the East End for the Spurs game Dolman for the Chelsea and open end for the Forest game yes it were bleedin pouring.

Racking my brains 1970, God it was a long time back, but wasn't that the year when it looked at one point that both City and Rovers would be in the semi finals? It's not as though I remember much about games the Gas play but something is in the back of my mind about that, I'm 99% sure City lost to the winners as I'm sure Spurs went on to win it.

Was at that game, it was wet and horrible and Chelsea's "stars", (especially the large Dutch centre half who's name escapes me) weren't up for it at all and in the words of Big Ron, we "bossed the game".

Smudger Smith and Mark Gavin on the wings and Super Bob and Robbie "boxing gloves on my elbows" Turner up front - not a bad little team...

I was at all three games mentioned, Dolman v Chelsea, Williams v Forest & Spurs.

Was a great day against Chelsea & a superb performance...Chelsea have never won at Ashton Gate, nor for that matter has Manchester City!

Yes I was there for all three of them. East End for Chelsea and Forest, Dolman for Spurs.

I was there, I was in recruit training for the Army in Aldershot, and caught the train from Reading, and it was full of Chelsea fans. They were so cocky, I remember one guy asking me "if there was enough room for their players to get a good run up to take a corner, as a lot of these little grounds don't".... I just smiled

Also went back to training and my training Sergeant was a Chelsea fan, and made my life a misery for the rest of that week....

But I expect it was worth it. My Boss was a Leeds Utd fan when we beat them at Elland Road in the cup before the match he was full of you were lucky in the first match you'll get a football lesson now but we'll think of you when we beat Liverpool in the next round. Didn't hear a peep out of him for 3 days after the game which was just as well as I was knackered after the traveling and took a couple of days to recover.

Was not there as I was playing myself that day - I do remember winding-up a couple of Chelsea fans that played for us who had been predicting a walkover for them (if you live by the sword .....)
