Everyone here seems to think podolski is a done deal. I myself am confident that we will get him....However it would be premature to say he IS our player considering it hasn't been officially announced by arsenal yet. We need not look any further than last year when various sources claimed mata was our player only to realize we had been trumped by chelsea to his signature. Point is no harm in being confident of obtaining his services but at the same time it would be gullible to already count him as our player. Apologies if i come across as a pessimist but that is the way i am.

Don't really follow much transfer gossip to be honest - 99% of it is bluster and guff.
He's only an Arsenal player when it's confirmed on Arsenal.com

he said it was torres who convinced him to snub arsenal and join chelsea as he believed they had a greater future. To be fair at that point in time considering he had no allegiances to either club i understand his decision (though i dont agree with it)

I'm really sure that if we wanted him, we would have splashed the cash and we didn't. We have some stupid wage structure in place that stopped this. He was easily worth £25m and would have improved our squad greatly. We would have been guaranteed 3rd easy! Everyone knows who Arsenal are and a lot of people have respect for Wenger and would love to pay under him.

We never got mata because he was on 120k a week at valencia and we would not match that, then chelsea came in and offered him more that 120k per week, we would of had mata if we were prepared to pay his wages, TBH im glad we never, as he has not impressed me that much anyway.

The best midfielder with Silva in the league and he doesn't impress you much? Do you actually watch any football?

If he has been the second best midfielder in the EPL this season, then no, I clearly and not watching the same league as you.

he has been really good to be fair one of the most creative sparks for chelsea. People talk about arsenal being a one man team but i dont know where chelsea will be without mata and sturridge (really rate him)

What? Chelsea would have struggled all season without Mata. For a guy in his first season to be Chelsea's best player and to be one of the top in the Premiership is big. You can argue that Silva is better but he has better personnel playing around him than Mata. Add to the fact that he's had a full season behind him too, that is impressive. He would walk into our team easily and be the best player behind RVP. With him we would be comfortably at 3rd. The fact that he is playing for the best international team in the world, with the best midfielders says he is top class.

Mata (all forms) - 43 app, 10 goals, 15 assists
Silva (all forms) - 40 app, 8 goals, 18 assists

    Our best midfielder this season:
Rosicky (all forms) - 32 app, 2 goals, 2 assists

Unfortunately im not really a man for stats, im going purely on the times that I have seen him play, which is only the times Chelsea have been live on TV, and I have not been that impressed, I'm not saying he is a bad player, just that I think he is over rated. By your logic he should be a strong contender for player of the year then, both players and football writer player of the year.
