So this is it then.......the end of possibly the worst calender year in our history & we have three league games left.....Brentford (H), Charlton (A) & Watford (H). I would suggest that these three games (all eminently winnable, but also loseable) will define our season. All three opponents above us but all within reach. I would say take six or seven points and that should keep us there or there abouts, and with possibility of new signings in January, well you never know. Lose two out of the three though & I fear we will be cut adrift.

How many points do we realistically need and how many do you think we'll get?

For me, we need at least Five points & I actually think we'll get Six or seven.

I'd certainly take 6, other than that you've summed it up pretty well.

We might have been relegated (from the PL!!) but I'm not sure I'll agree 2014 is the worst year in our history. Speak to me after these next 3 and I might be on board though! <laugh> <laugh>

Whiffle - I wrote this on the first Saturday afternoon of the season back on the 9th August after we'd played our opener at Blackburn on the Friday night.

"Watched most of the League one opener Sheff Utd/Wurzels game over lunchtime (how sad is that!), and have just watched the first half of the Brentford/Charlton Championship game online.

    Opinion?

Well, although it hurts to say this the Blades and Wurzels played some very good stuff indeed and could easily have beaten us on our performance last night. The Wurzels in particular looked very good and deserved their win.

On to the current Brentford/Charlton game. It's half time, goalless, and both sides look bloody hopeless so far. I'm glad they're in the Championship and not the others I watched. If we can't get 6 points from each of those, we'll wont deserve anything."

Well 4 months on I was right about the Blades and Wurzels a division below us but totally wrong about the comparison between ourselves and Brentford and Charlton. They have both upped their games form that dire opener and have come on a bundle whilst in all honesty we've grovelled around in the mire looking for some sort of inspiration.

Whether it's down to our manager(s) or players is another argument, but if we're to get "6 points from each of those" as I said, we'll need a bloody sea change on the pitch - what we have right now is nowhere near good enough.

I'll take a point from each of those two games, but I've got an awful feeling that Watford are going to blow Slade's home record and take us apart after Christmas.

Of course I could be wrong and we'll take 9 out of 9.

City will do well to get 3-4 points.

Brentford will come without absolutely nothing to lose. They will not play for a point but go for the 3 and the way our central midfield opened up for B'mouth, and the way the defence defended, then don't be surprised to see a goal fest again. Our only hope is for the team to have learnt how to not stand off advancing opposing players, and close down better and for the forwards to have decent service.

Charlton away. Cannot recall us winning there since mid 70's. A Danny Showers brace. Will be a difficult game.

Watford at home. Not sure what Watford team will turn up. They are a bit hit and miss but have had some success on the road. If there is justice then Watford will win at a canter after being robbed at home.
