but chippy, you've answered your own question!!

the reason we were so dire to begin with was an outrageous lack of confidence as I alluded to in my opening gambit. anyone at the game will have seen this clearly, hence the fans never really got on their backs and stuck with them. as soon as we scored confidence came flowing back - we still looked like a side recovering from a 7-0 mauling but that's because we were!!

I don't think some people, perhaps those who couldn't attend, appreciate just how low on confidence those players were yesterday. i've never seen a norwich side that bereft of confidence before. it was quite frightening but it all changed with a little slice of luck that we haven't had all season

Yes but the lack of confidence came from inept tactics in games which resulted in defeats which then drained confidence! It's a vicious circle however you look at it , it just depends upon which part of this circle you class as the start? If you see where I'm coming from?
Trust me I'm thrilled we won, but you've not answered the first part of my post, had we of played, say WBA or saints (as they are playing now) then we'd have been 2 or 3 down by half time & looking for a new manager today.
Confidence will take you so far but it will need CH to improve to keep it going, and I just don't feel he's got it in him! I hope I'm wrong.

I don't understand your post. we played west ham who hadn't conceded in five away games and just won three nil at spurs.

our form has been bad for two reasons and they are both linked. firstly we've had tremendously difficult games and secondly confidence had been drained. you don't seem to appreciate how hard it is to get out of a rut like that!! and other than spurs away, where much like today the manager gambled with two up front, when this season have tactics been out undoing?

unfortunately you are one of the few posters who are completely biased against the manager now, so what ever he does or city do won't matter to you

oh, and confidence takes you a long way - ten game runs for instance

It's not being biased towards CH it's the fact that HE hasn't done anything to change my mind on him ! If he can now turn results & permances around then I'll leave him alone & be supportive, but it's for him to do it & at this point in time I don't think he will !

funnily enough, just watched MotD and shearer said "anyone who doesn't understand how vital confidence is in football should watch that game"

    he's not lying

I appreciate you're not convinced but surely you can comprehend why we've only won one of our last six games and why we've taken a couple of hammerings?

I think yesterday the result was more important than the way we played.

We needed the 3 points and west ham play 6 in midfield which was hard going as we couldn't get any possession. The first half was the worst half of football I have seen us play since the ill fated Colchester game.

It was diabolical, missed placed passes, slow and getting caught on the ball. I was expecting a lot more after a 7 nil thrashing.

We got the result we needed and I hope it gives the players the confidence they need to kick on and win a few games. As for CH I'm not sure he is the right guy for us and the performance overall was poor, but we got lucky. It was not a 3-1 performance.

I want CH to prove me wrong because I want city to do well and develop as a side.

"I was expecting a lot more after a 7-0 thrashing"

again, just think how low confidence was. if you don't take that into account then you are completely failing to understand why we were so poor in the first half, especially when combined with west ham having all the ball and swarming all over us

even when we win it's moan moan moan

we might have played poorly at times and had a little luck but that game could be massive, yet for some reason some people only want to take the negatives

    i'm out of here

I did take it into account supers, but you have to admit that we were really poor.

You took my first post on this thread as negative? It wasn't.

I was thrilled with the points.

Exactly what I was saying to some of my fellow fans. I said that the free kick we got after Howson's shot came back of the bar that it was a perfect distance to get over the wall. I was right behind Snoddy's free kick and could that be the catalyst for him to push on and resemble the player he was last season??

I hope so! Snoddy was great for us last season, for one reason and another it's been hard for him this year. Became a father for the first time, knocked out and yesterday ended up with hooter that was almost as big as his whole head!

I really hope we kick on from this result and go on a bit of a run, a win or draw at Newcastle would be good!

Just watched the Snoddy free kick again - it gets better each time I see it!!!!
Mind you the dip on Howson's shot to come off the bar was superb too - when I saw him hit it, I thoought it was destined to end up in the crowd!!! <ok>

Delighted for Hughton, it's been a nightmare start for him and he is a quality manager and a real good egg. Hopefully the crowd will lay off him now, he doesn't deserve the sort of barracking he's been getting.

Had we lost yesterday, reluctantly, I'd have accepted it was time for some fresh ideas.

But we won - I'm pleased as I genuinely believe that we have the makings of a long term manager, who the way he conducts himself is a credit to Norwich. He's still learning his trade and hopefully he'll keep learning as we keep improving. When we finally get the finished article, I predict happy times.

Oh for heavens sake, do lighten up chippy, and a few others, we weren´t lucky to win, we had a bit of luck ( just for once) which we turned to our advantage and deserved to win, that´s quite different. Some of you really do seem determined to get him out, whatever he does, and can´t even relax and enjoy it when we do win. He deserves as much credit for this win as the players, or do you imagine he just stood there in the dressing room at half-time with his mouth hanging open. When we lose, apparently it´s all his fault, when quite obviously it´s not always, and when we win he´s still making balls up´s, but luck was on our side, I just don´t understand some of you.
