In all honesty, I had a very enjoyable time with them, they are as friendly in the flesh as they are on the forum They are all very disappointed with their team and their manager!

gandy, when we had him, he was at his best, he started to lose it a bit at Villa, and he's at rock bottom now! As Syd said to me, he is best known as a man- motivator, but he's really lost his touch now!
o'neil looks wrecked now when you see him on the TV he'll be back on the BBC analysing the world cup next summer i predict.

Looking at their schedule, it's hard to see Sunderland picking up many more points. They look to be underdogs in almost all of their remaining games and look to be in real danger, especially with Wigan, Villa, and Saints all looking better. Maybe we can do them a favour at Wigan though!
I don't think he's been anything like the Martin O'Neill of old since his wife started her battle with cancer, which is entirely understandable. I absolutely love the guy, I think he's absolutely brilliant, a very intelligent and thoroughly decent man and it's terribly sad to see him struggling at the moment, he just doesn't look like he's got the passion for the game in him anymore.
According to Wikipedia he's a Sunderland fan, which I didn't realise. That situation rarely tends to work out very well.
I have been thinking this for a while now as he does appear to manically jump and run around these days but I was thinking it had more to do with the team being so poor and not giving him anything to get excited about. What you highlight about his wife though probably is the root cause for this apparent change, it must weigh heavily on him and football is not a distraction enough to give him some relief. Real shame, MON was a top player and really good manager but if he has more important things on his mind then maybe he ought to take a back seat and let someone else manage day to day.
I thought I'd revive this thread as it becomes even more important now that the RVW deal has been done. Sunderland's situation has got darker still with the injury to Fletcher in the Scotland game last night. I now reckon that a win at Wigan would see City safe (10 points clear with 7 to play), but a draw would do for now.
I have to say their remaining fixtures look horrendous,I really can't see how they will get more than six points.Terrible luck losing Fletcher/ I think if we win at Wigan they might just survive otherwise it's the bottom two plus them.

My wife worked with kids with special needs and for some reason she refers to it as Asberger's Syndrome, but then what would she know, eh. I love Asparagus and we are rapidly approaching that time of year.I only eat it when it's fresh so my season is from mid April to mid June.My reference to "Asparagus Syndrome" really refers to the awful smell when you pee after eating the stuff but I linked it to my love of numbers - I have aspirations to be the NCFC Statto! No real odds change because no games have been played. I would point out that odds represent peoples perception of what will happen rather than necessarily the likelihood,although of course there will be a close correlation. This effect though will have the effect of shortening our odds because the general perception is that due to our lack of WCT we are more likely to get "regulated" as the Norfolk jostler who works for me refers to it.
