Tony Barrett and Ben Smith are reporting that LFC are quietly looking to get rid of him. Reina is reluctant to leave unless Barca are after him ...

Furthermore, I believe this is a FSG Decision as Reina is on high wages combined with a loss of form.

There have been similar rumours for about four years, one day they'll be true.
Like most footie rumours, I'll believe it when I see it.

    Humm.

I think if we can get something decent for him like Villa and some cash then it wouldn't be a bad time to sell him.

I'd prefer to keep him but if we're honest he hasn't been great for a couple of seasons now, despite an upturn over the last 6 months.

Maybe try and get Tello as part of the deal.

Tello would be a good shout and I know we need someone now but the Deleflu (sp) who is about to break the ranks is a bit special. <ok>

Would like to take Tello or Sanchez. Get the impression that Tello wants to stay but Sanchez is likely to move on.

Cash plus Player would be a good deal. However, I would rather keep him. Losing Reina, Carragher and Skrtel this summer - 3 experienced players. We needed to add more experience this summer as well.

I think Valdes stated he wanted to leave this summer so I think it's pretty likely.

And Reina would be returning to his first club and arguably the best club in the world, who are winning trophies. Signing on a 2 year contract at a fraction of his current salary probably isn't even crossing his mind. It's a sentimental move just like Bellamy moving to Cardiff.

Also, Barrett said that Reina isn't looking to move unless it's Barca who come in for him, so it's not as if he's unhappy here. What I will find rather soul destroying is if FSG are the ones who are forcing the move.

he did and then he said he was stayin but then barca got a hammering.... who knows.

what i can say is 10mil is a bit low but that would be barca tactics too.

I'd send him on his way with thanks if we got 20mil, not 10. ten won't get a replacement.

An exchange that involved Tello not Villa would make sense but like some have said I'll wait and see.

  15. I don't know it, nor does anyone else other than possibly representatives of each club and the player himself. However, I suspect it will happen, I've had a feeling it will happen for a long time and it logically make sense too.

That do for you ****pig? <whistle>

As much as I am a HUGE Reina fan, I do feel it could be a blessing-in-disguise if we were to let him go this summer. Maybe, after 7 years of service it is time to get a fresh face in between the sticks? He fits into the Barca model of a sweeper-keeper very well and I do think they'd pay upwards of £15m for him. Then of course comes the problem of finding a replacement. Clubs will know we will be desperate to get a replacement in and will hold us to ransom for every penny they can get. Monchengladbach will want in the region of £18m for ter Stegen, but at the age of 21 he could well be worth it. He has been compared to Oliver Kahn frequently and looks like another top keeper from the German conveyor belt of top keepers.

In all honesty, unless we can get someone like ter Stegen in, i'd like to see us keep hold of him. My worst nightmare would be for us to let him go and not fully invest the money thus ending up with someone like Al-Habsi or Vorm in goal. Don't get me wrong, they're decent keepers but if we sell a top class goal keeper we need to replace him with a top class goal keeper.

    This is the problem.

We can't attract the top class talents like we used to (well maybe we can but it's a lot of harder than before) so getting rid of our world class players will only affect the club IMO.

Our squad has little experience of performing on big stages and players like Reina and Skrtel bring that experience (as well as Carragher).

True, although I still think ter Stegen could be interested in coming to England. And apart from Arsenal, no big clubs in England really need a goal keeper. So as long as we can fend off Arsenal, it's possible.

I think he is a top talent but I think Barca also want him. I believe they want Reina for the short term and then will go for Ter Stegen once he has developed further.
