Do we regret not pursuing an interest in Wells? I suspect that he is a fish that we could have caught but let slip away.
Two goals in two games is great for the boy, let's give it a few more games before we start pulling out finger nails!, you may be right Dev but he's on his honeymoon let's see......
Won't be able to answer this until we see who does come in. Hope we will be getting someone that will make the decision to let Wells pass by obvious.
I don't think the lad really wanted to come down south anyway. He looked quite decent for them today the way they played, fell over a few times but scored a good goal.....most strikers would be happy with that every game.
No evidence to suggest he was ever a genuine target anyway only made up internet bollocks like every other story. Only believe it when it happens I say.
I'll get shot down in flames for this, but looking to the Premier league we did the right thing by not signing him in my opinion.
I don't want to be arrogant, but we can afford a more finished article with the continuity of him partnering Charlie in the PL next season. I.e. the young French lad.
Reflections on this by our Tony:-
Harry admits that they did look at Wells but decided not to go for him. Listen to the post match interview at http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/25692321
He did nothing apart from his goal, which was probably an inevitable result of all the chances created by his teammates. Looked lightweight, and kept falling over.
From today's viewing we've not missed out. His control was poor, he had several decent chances in the first half and didn't trouble Green. To be fair to him he kept going and scored a nice goal, but Austin would have scored 5 for them. Of course, you can't really judge anyone from just one match.
I think given a bit of time he will be a star. Bags of pace, but needs bulking up a bit. Do i regret not signing him ?? At this stage of his career probably not...But definately one for the future.
I regret not signing him. There seems to be quite a bit of justification mixed with relief and double standards in some of the comments made. We need someone who can score in this division. Hey may prove to be a flash in the pan but 2 from 1.5 games ain't a bad start. He 's a bit lightweight? Isn't Tom Hitchcock? Doesn't stop us clamouring for him. We criticise short-termism then indulge in it ourselves. We need the finished article. Now. Whatever happened to buying a youngster to develop? Keeps falling over. Does anyone on here really believe that he is too weak to stand up for 90 minutes? No I didn't think so. He chose the wrong studs for this pitch. End of. Just be thankful he didn't choose the right ones given the fact they were all over us in the first 45. I doubt whether he will make that mistake too many times. Surely he was worth a chance at £1.3 million. Finally, let's wake up shall we. How many times have we lost out because a player would rather play for a Prem. team than join us? Jelavic and Hooper are the last two. I think we can add at Peter Crouch and Jermain Defoe to that list. It's understandable so take the blinkers off and start looking seriously elsewhere. I just get the feeling that Harry's scouting team only look at the papers and then decide who to watch based on the journos reports. Come on Harry. Birthday presents which are a surprise are always more enjoyable than the ones we asked for.
