Harry thinks highly of Martinez. I remember his comment that he was a fantastic manager, who doesn't have the resources at his disposal. I'm not sure he's for us right now, but he could be one to watch.

What about Brendan Rodgers? He's pretty similar to Martinez.

Staying in England... Alan Pardew is a good manager, and could do well at a bigger club than Newcastle.

Rodgers is basically reaping the reward of Martinez work at Swansea, surely?

He got sacked by Reading, and if I recall correctly, they were playing dross football as well.

I think Rodgers will be flash in the pan, personally.

I'm still acknowledging RM's achievement, he's just not on the map around Europe. The top players look to work under top managers, I don't necessarily agree with that, its just the way it is, for all Mourinho's faults, many players would love to be in one of his winning teams. He's now gone and toppled Barcelona, who'd have thought that, Madrid are 10 points clear. Barca seem unsettled by the goings on involving Guardiola, who won't sign a new contract, clashing with one of the presidents. He could use this as an excuse to go, he has only ever signed year to year contracts, so if he wants he's a free agent in the summer.....whats his English like! <whistle> <laugh>

Tell you what, it's not impossible.

    What an appointment that'd be!

As a player, Pep always was determined to play abroad, if he has that as a manager, why not Spurs?

    It's possible, if unlikely.

He did build the framework that Swansea are now reaping as well. If he took the Villa job, they do have better firepower up front than Wigan have had under available, and Martinez would probably use the available players a lot better - not least playing N'Zobgia and Albrighton, rather than McLeish's tactic of playing one or the other.
