pretty sure he was involved with our only two meaningful attacks - a shot tip over from Guly and linked up well with Morgan to set him through 1v1. it's not Guly's fault he received the square root of jack sheeite, up top as a lone striker.
Listening to the Solent commentary yesterday, I got the impression that Guly was our MVP. Perhaps, dare I say it, those that keep slagging him off maybe a tad racist, perish the thought because that is UnSaintly. Hopefully it is just that they don't appreciate the way that he plays, yes?
Guly is a player who blows very hot and cold. He's good to have, but he's not the ideal focal point. That's Rickie Lambert's job. I do think we need to make more use of Ben Reeves and Lee Ho;lmes to explore our wide options as we've established that 4312 doesn't work or only works when our opponents don't threaten us with width. When we have Connolly, or Guly in form, the front 2 is basically an extension to the midfieldand that gives us the confidence to push our widemen forward.
i agree with everything! guly is a player who can be very good, but can also be very bad in the same game - inconsistency and we do need to make use of Reeves & Holmes, Reeves is around the 1st team as he travelled yesterdy
Guly is one of our better players but inconsistent. That could be true of a few others as well, but Guly's good bits more than make up for rest. If he was consistently good at a high level, he would probably not be playing for us. Glad to have him on board.
I just feel that Guly is the kind of player that often gets picked on when we don't win. I thought was quite good yesterday (I accept he does not always play well) and I thought de Ridder was more ineffectual than he. But because de Ridder has pace and runs around people think that is better, well Yoanne Folly used to do that, but nothing meaningful. I think perhaps Guly is our new boo boy and that is perhaps why he plays better for us away from home. He may not always be in the game but he can produce that moment of magic, like against Reading which got us an important point; I also think he is a good target man, strong and skillful.
Flipping heck, that line about being racist has got to be the most pathetic thing i have seen on these threads, what an absolute ridiuclous thing to say, pull yaself together and give yaself a slap! As for Guly,i love him but i don't think he should be free from criticism if he doesn't play well, yesterday he was awful! control was awful and kept losing the ball but then again none of the others were much better!
Stop being racist , all joking aside guly gets alot of stick as everything knows he has the skill etc. But sometimes he doesn't show that skill which is annoying.
Honestly sometimes you look at him and think how the hell is he a professional footballer but then other times he is unbelievable and you think how the hell is he not in the premier league! he is basically great! or woeful! there seems to be no middle ground with him.
Yep that's true I rate Guly but every now and again he pisses me off to. Like you said some of the skill he doe's is amazing then other times he trips over his own feet. Guess we will just have to live with our inconsistent genius.
