You'll never be on my side Jack, why the need to come over here and give us your opinions? You don't support my club so what the **** has it got to do with you?

Seeing as your such a big fan of tradition, will you be asking your club to go back to being called Swansea Town and play at the Vetch?

We changed club colours from blue in the late 50s, and tweaked it from gold and black to yellow, red and black in the late 70s. Both were followed by significant improvements on the pitch.

But the major difference is that the fans were generally on board with those changes. Not universally though, and coincidentally it's the red which still occasionally divides opinion in these parts.

They used to have 3 or 4 tattooists in Swansea City centre from 1973 - 1975

But the Swans did not have many fans in those days

Must have taken some real self examination to realise that. Lol!!!

So on this thread a few jacks and a Leeds fan are p1ssed off we're not more p1ssed off that our club future might be more secure than it has been in most peoples living memory. A lot of fans of other clubs telling bluebirds how to feel about their club. You can't relate without being in the same situation, easy to take the moral high ground when it's not your club. The exception on the thread is London, I disagree, but I respect his opinion to feel how he wants about his team.

You can't change history, it's there, it's documented, it's fact. The Malaysians will not and can not take our history.

As to all the speculation about whether it will have any effect on the marketing strategy in Malaysia, what expertise is anyone basing their opinions on? Please don't quote the Leeds fan who 'has lived with some Malaysians' was that even a serious attempt at discussion?

I'd figure that the promise of outside investment from Malaysia is based on actual conversations with business people from Malaysia. If they're demanding a red kit and a dragon to go with their ideal corporate branding thats probably the reason, not saying I agree that's a great thing, just it seems the most sensible explanation for such a seismic shift in the clubs image. The suggestion that a hugely successful business man in VT is some kind of moron who does get the implications of how to market the club is a bit of a stretch for me. VT wants to change it for a reason and a bit of superstition doesn't feel like enough for him to take on the back lash he has to know will happen imo.

As I said on my last post, each to there own, I wouldn't dream of telling another Bluebird how they should feel about our club. I've already brough my pair of ST's. If we've got some better players next year that'll be great. I'll let you know how I feel about us playing in Red when I see it and no one is going to stop me singing whatever I want.

Maybe we will be luckier in red...............................<whistle>

im not pissed off its not our identity going down the pan. we will always be the swans with a swan in the badge and we will always primarily be black and white as our club colours. and more importantly a swan will always feature...cardiff famous for being the bluebirds are about to fly away and be replaced with a dragon that already exists with another welsh club....If they are that superstitious then why not follow a real successful club and adopt the swan..<laugh> its so bloody laughable you could not make it up...

I have, and they don't give a **** what colour a team plays in or what's on their badge, it's all about success, something you can achieve without this change. Also, I'm not "telling you how to feel", just saying I don't understand the reaction (or lack of).

History can be re-written (ask the Russians). Traditions change and some die. Cardiff city will remain and thus begins a new chapter in our history.
I suggest Vincent Tan, his PR and marketing people have done thier sums and have made the decisions based on sound logic and solid feedback from all areas they are looking at to change. Therefore, given he and others have saved my club I am prepared to listen to their ideas and their vision for the future of my club.
Does it thrill and excite me the fact they want to remove some traditions in the process? Not one bit!
Am I a traditionalist? I suppose I am but in the face of some cold hard facts I am not immovable.
In many ways the bluebirds died when Ninian Park was demolished. It was the ancestral home of the bluebirds but it had to make way for the modern world and had to grow or die.
Has the bluebird run it's course? No
Will I mourn its passing? Yes and I will look back fondly
Can I embrace the dragon? Yes. after all it is a national symbol of Wales.
Will I call us the "Red Birds", no ****ing way, someone may start calling us Robins ffs!
In my heart always a bluebird whether or not the bluebird is on the shirt.

Evening cling, you're out early tonight sir!

We must have the busiest board on the whole of not 606. Lots of visitors too. While there is some incredulity amongst our visitors I also sense some envy!

    Interesting times.

I was talking to a Cheltenham fan today and he was asking about our invetors. Having wiki'd Tan, it was amusing to see some wag had already been at his entry, undoubtably a Bluebirds / Dragons / reds supporter.

This is going to take some getting used to!

Hiya remote. I'm in a dark room mate. <laugh>
Yes, I don't know what to make of it all to be honest. And who is paying for the branding irons? As always, interesting times in our bid for survival and eventual prosperity.

Hi cracker. Yes I'm good at the moment, thank you. Hope you and yours are in the pink too. <ok>

I think you need to take a look at this..

    http://www.historicalkits.co.uk/Swansea_City/Swansea_City.htm

Quite a few kits there with NO Swan on them, in fact one even has a RED DRAGON instead of a Swan.

reading the echo, i understand both sides, some excellent arguments on this thread and board for both yes and no answers.

problem i have is i dont want to be perceived as not giving a **** about tradition, but at the same time we could have a big future with these plans. a similar opposition / reaction occured when the 39th game idea was going around. at the time the people behind the idea were ridiculed for messing with tradition. but perhaps we missed a trick. spains equivalent of the community shield is played in abu dhabi, and i think there may be a major italian cup played there i believe. they are moving with the times.

it gives me a bad feeling in my stomach now looking at it, and we will be the butt of many jokes from opposition supporters, but at the same time the tens of millions seems like dirty money to me, even if it is to be invested in the 'correct' way, not like the glazers for example...

also, steve borley a cardiff director is has been answering questions from fans on twitter: https://twitter.com/#!/SteveCMB
