Them not officially changing the nickname doesn't change the fact you'll now have no connection to the name "bluebirds".

Understand London, but I will be supporting Cardiff City next year whatever we look like. There is just no way I could walk away from them, however pissed off I feel. I will wear my Blue shirt on match days, I will yell Bluebirds when we score. But it is still MY Cardiff City and the fact is we may well be a hell of a lot better because of all this.

Doesn't change the name of the club. The connection to Bluebirds will still be there, unless you don't understand tradition.

So where is the Peacock on your badge and how can you still call yourselves United with all the infighting with Bates and ever decreasing home attendances?

The connection is millions of Cardiff fans & millions of neutral fans will always call & know them as the Bluebirds whether speaking nice or horribly about them , that will never change . The big changes are meant many miles away in Southeast Asia where they will be known as the " Red Dragons " by all & the owners will capitalize on that , which is what this is all about . Once this " 100 million " is invested , more is sure to follow to protect the original investment . The Leagues are being overran by " Money Men " , Cardiff are one of the lucky ones to get one while the getting good , & frankly , just in time .

"I will yell Bluebirds when we score."

Won't you get thrown out? Wouldn't surprise me if your lovely owners insisted on banning the use of that name.

"Peacocks" is a perfect example of how a nickname can be lost. No-one ever calls us that now and the only tenuous hold we have left on it is the pub across from ER, luckily for us it was never an important part of our identity.

I don't want to change, but it is going to happen, and we will be a stronger club at the end of it.

How do you know you will be ????? I thought that its how you play on the pitch brings success not a change of identity. wrexham play in red and have a dragon on their shirt and they have had no luck....its a load of superstitions clap trap to please a foreigner who will have no interest what they leave behind once they get fed up and leave. they should invest in the club as they have spent relatively little money since they took over and as billionaires then they are leaving the club down. forget about identity change put enough in the coffers to make a difference and stop bullshitting the fans with rubbish that you will get stronger by changing colours and badge...ridiculous

Goose & gander Simon ... Who dictates what " Part of an identity " is or what isn't important to a club . Losing the peacock & possibly losing the Bluebird emblems is the same sh#t , different shovel .

im so ****ing angry,i cant even believe that cardiff fans are buying this ****e!!...cant people see that just change on the field will bring more success off...championship football is always going to be hard to compete in asia with all the premier league clubs having following there, nothing to do with badges arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh..spend on players don't **** with the history and identity of the club.

History and tradition are important and should never be forgotten - but this alone does not pay our bills. We should not use history as the noose from which the club hangs.

Stronger financially Dai. I think that is a given. It is impossible for us not to be. They have spent 15 million at least so far, and now they are ready to go the whole hog. They will not give 100 million without it. So I am afraid that means we will be stronger by changing colours and the badge.

Again, it is not about superstition...boy!!! Red + Dragon = Asian investment.

Again, whether I like it or not, I just keep trying to tell you what the theory is.

so this is the only way of making cardiff sellable in malaysia is it??..we are a championship club for christ sake,of course its going to be hard sell in malaysia when they are all tuned into the premier league...buy players and then we wont be such a hard sell because hopefully that will get us up to compete in that sense.....now that makes sense to me not changing the badge and colours!

london is right, put money into the club if they want success, there will be a small amount of interest for championship clubs abroad but premiership clubs will always be paramount. Christ i bet even us swans will have more fans in malaysia where they see us on the telly all the time than any championship club.....our fan base has grown significantly all over the world due to our premiership status......no shirt or identity change has got us that...better players and good managers did......the malaysians are off their heads, try putting money into the club for decent players if they want success.....

It doesn't though, and I can't believe you're falling for that bollocks. I also can't believe you're so comfortable with your club whoring out it's identity.

    London

I appreciate your views and don't want to fall out with a fellow CCFC supporter but look at the bigger picture. There are still old, outside influences in our club. This presents an opportunity to get rid of them and increase investment to improve all aspects from the team, to the ground to training facilities.
Rather than limping from month to month on a shoestring, this can put all of that behind us.

We are still Cardiff City, the history can't be eliminated. This is an opportunity to move forward in a big way. If it is not taken we risk losing everything we have and what will history mean then? Ask any Pompey fan.

As a jack, I'm a bit "meh!" about it, but as a football fan...
I cannot, I mean really CANNOT understand why everyone isn't up in arms like 'london' here. I've been though this thread and I'm astounded at the number of CCFC fans taking this on the chin as a necessary evil of progress.

Someone was saying about not always having a blue strip and someone else was going on about Riverside F.C., blah, blah, blah!

If this was my club, I'd rather go down fighting than accept a change of badge, club colour, etc. yeah, the Swans rebranded a badge ages years ago, but it's still a Swan (of sorts). The club colour though, holy ****!

C'mon guys, I may not be a fan, but this is nothing short of an unmitigated disaster! Show some f**king spine.
