... for me I've been getting excited ever since that fabulous win away at Plymouth and trying to quell my own expectations of a resurgent Saints. Despite this, I have been getting a little carried away in my own head about Saints getting back into the big time and surging up the Premier League as part of the five year plan. But, do you know what? I've been thinking this morning that I'd actually accept 5 years in the championship if it meant stability and a strong future for the club. Yes, I'd love the Premiership, but would 5 years in level 2 be that bad?
Personally, just want to watch a winning team that plays good football and have a club that isn't a clowns circus off the pitch.
totally agree mate, i cant wait till we get back in the premier leauge but im happy to grow as a team in the championship for few years, then when the time comes and we get back in to the premier leauge enjoy it. 2011/2012 - mid table 2012/2013 - push/maybe in to play-offs 2013/2014 - hopefully premier league but if we can sooner I be very happy.

I like the championship personally. I'd be content to stay in it until the Premier League inevitably explodes in a big, messy fireball of money, sattelite dishes and over-inflated egos. Then we climb to the top of a pile of empty shells. Then again, maybe not, but with the state of the PL at the moment, I'd rather be competitive in the Championship than scraping survival in the PL.
Surely a more harsh punishment is no place for him on Nigel's bus? I'm sort of on the bus, I'm in the chemical toilet.
Why don't you ask Nicola if he'd like 5 years in the Championship? Can I watch. I've never seen an Italian explode before. Joking aside, I know what you mean. I've enjoyed League 1 and a couple of GOOD seasons in the Championship wouldn't be the end of the world. If we drifted too long however, I think Nicola and the Leihberr's might want to sell us on and who knows what owner we'll get then.
I think our fans have to realise that we aren't just gonna cruise past every team 3/4-nil at St Marys this season, although, most teams will come to win the game which may help us and make for a more entertaining game. The front 4 (Chamberlain, Lallana, Lambert, Barnard/Guly) are fine so with maybe 3, at most 4 quality additions - we'll soon be getting wins on the board. Be patient with the team and Nigel, he knows what he's doing. And please, no panicking if we aren't where we expect to be come Christmas.
Brilliant Dyslexic. Let's take one line out of the post and not consider the bigger picture or the context of the thread. Well done. Try having another read and you might see I felt I was being over ambitious too early. If SB3 was on here he would be talking us down as relegation material, so let us look on the bright side and forget the unthinkable, Premier would put an enormous strain on my financial resources, so although I am ambitious I am in no hurry, unless my lottery numbers come up!
Stability this season. Challenge for play offs the next season, then promotion after that. I'd settle for that.
I would settle for a top half finish, a good cup run, and 6 points from the sk8s. Anything else would be greedy, but if Nigel wants to get back to back promotions then i am not going to argue!!
