Alls welcome as far as I'm concerned ,it's pleasing to see that we're attracting fans ,supporters what ever you want to call yourself from all over the globe the more the merrier I say .Anyone who comes across a smug or superior because they may have followed the club longer and isn't welcoming to new faces is very insular in outlook .imo

you are what i call an admirer of the swans and the way we play (not recently) but not a fan in the sense that we are not your only team as you have said you support another team back in your homeland......I have always admired Arsenal and liverpool since i was a small boy but im not a fan. Swansea is the only club i have ever been a fan of but i will watch any team if its on the box and i will also watch local football......you cant be a fan of two or three clubs,... that don't make sense as who do you support when they play each other...<laugh>

Well I go home and away and I bet I'll be the only one on this board going to Norwich and a far as I'm concerned Mikra you are more than welcome on here and you can call yourself a fan as far as I'm concerned. As I've said I'd consider you to be a new fan, everyone has to start somewhere and now's as good a time as any.

He can be whatever he likes Dai. If he buys club merchandise and watches all our games on the TV then I don't see a problem with that.

I watch Barca on the TV because I like the way they play football and am a fan of their style of play, so does that make me a fan of Barca? Too bloody right I'm a fan but its because of the way they play the game, doesn't change the fact though that even though I'm a fan of football and I'm a fan of the way certain clubs play the Swans is still my team and always will be.

If we get a Danish team in the Europa and 300 people from Denmark who feel the same as Mikra decide to go to the game in Denmark and support the Swans then that can only be good for us and I'd be bloody delighted to see that happening. Since we've got to the Premier League we've had worldwide exposure. Winning the League cup has enhanced that as has signing Ki which has raised our profile in South Korea and of course having Michael Laudrup here has enhanced our profile in Denmark. No surprise there considering he is a national hero there.

The way I look at it Dai is that we as a club are winning friends and influencing people because of the way we do things on and off the field. The style of play is pleasing on the eye and the club is very well run off the field. We are also known in media circles as being a very friendly club to visit. Little wonder then why we are attracting fans, people whatever you choose to call them from around the world. So I say bring them on and welcome to anyone that wants to follow the Swans, the more the merrier. I see the name of Swansea City marketed and supported worldwide as being bloody brilliant to be honest. It raises the profile of our city beyond anything we could have dreamt of 10 years ago.

Remember that we are doing all this too without having to sell out and change our colours, badge and God knows what else. No wonder we are perceived the way we are unlike some other clubs I could mention.

Being serious, I can't make midweek away games due to my job so I missed Sunderland and the away cup games.

...<laugh> Of all the people in the world Dai , surely you would be able to Answer the question of being a fan of Two clubs better than anybody !!

Being a Liverpool fan AND a Swans fan <ok>

My first post on this thread, i have to say that the more people who follow the Swans the better..spread the word while your at it too !! i couldnt give a toss if you call them Fans, supporters, new fans, followers, plastic, admirer etc,etc .

The important thing here is that Mikraswan feels a part of us and our club, this is critical for our develpment as the more people who buy into us the better the club can get on and off the field!

There is nothing better than to meet fans of your club while in another country and the premier league dream is all about us opening ourselves up to the world!

Mikraswan i like all the other sensible 606 ers welcome you with open arms! you are a part of the present and also the future, you are as important ot the club as anybody else, those who say any different are complete morons!

Remember our trip to Wembley against Northampton back in the 90's ?(ok, i guess mikra doesnt know this) i think we had about 16,000 fans there that day and that was an incredible crowd considering our average attendence of about 3500 ! ( yes,3500 was probably a bit high but it was a good year!) of those 16,000 there would have some who decided to stick around, hence the core support grew, L1 play-off final we took about 32,000 . The core had more than doubled since Northampton, Championship play-off over 40,000 Swans fans at wembley..compare that to the crowds at the Autoglass Huddersfield game and Northampton play off!!

Point is that without new fans we would still be in the lower leagues scratching around for a few thousand hard core, Cardiff are exactley the same, its only when a club produces on the field that they will expand their following, who the **** buys into failiure ??

All our new fans are important to the club and they should be welcomed like long lost friends not like lepers!!

Its the one thing i hate about South Wales, small mindedness and parochialism ! the welsh seem to have a problem with this in general, its an Historical thing i beleive. There are swans fans out there that hate the fact we moved from the Vetch and now play to a full house every week in a plush stadium, there are plenty of swans fans that would prefer us to be in the basement divisions scratching around so they can tell us all how it used to be "in the old days"

The sooner people grasp the fact our club is on the world stage the better, thankfully my fellow jacks on not606 are true lovers of all things Swansea and welcoming to new posters and people is easy for them/us.

As Dilligaf says, everybody starts somewhere, its not when you started its the fact you have started !!

Welcome to all the new Swans fans, may your stay be a long and pleasent one <cheers>

dill you do know what a fan is do you???? i watch all the football i can and that makes me a fan of football but you can only be a fan of one club.....you cant support or be a true club fan if you support other clubs, not in my interpretation of what a true fanatic of a club you love and support. when i was in the navy i use to go and watch plymouth argyle but i was not a fan of plymouth, I went to watch a game of football as i was unable to watch the swans.....you only have one club not multiples of clubs ...that is not the definition of a fan...

I wonder how many local football clubs you pass Dai on your way to the Vetch/Liberty Stadium? I wonder if that makes you a 'plastic' or 'glory supporter'? <whistle>

I agree with a lot of what's being said, the kind of elitism towards new fans is not needed. I haven;t been to see the Swans since 2005 when we secured promotion from the bottoom tier. So I have never been to the Liberty and certainly never experienced top flight football, aside from a few games in Toshack era but too young to really remember those. Main reason for this is is that I now live on the other side of the world, does it make me less of a fan, I don't believe so.
I've recently bumped into a couple of Korean lads with Swansea shirts, new supporters obviously but absoloutley incredible in terms of how far we've come!
Not so long ago we'd not really been heard of overseas, now we are appealing to many and no-one can say that's not a brilliant thing and long may it continiue!

Bony, don't talk about Wigwam very sore point mate. Booked for a weekend away hotel all paid up and then the buggers get the semi final of the cup :mad:

Dai, I'm not being funny but why can't you just welcome Mikra ? And as for you asking me if I know what a fan is, are you having a laugh or something ? There are many types of fans, some go home and away (me), some only home, some only away and some not at all. Some go when work and responsibilities dictate and some live overseas.

A mate of mine moved to Swansea to study in the university. He's from Manchester and was a Man Utd fan. He started coming to watch the Swans with us as he loves the game and wanted to see live football. This was back in league 1 six years ago. Now he's a season ticket holder and goes away whenever he can. Last season he stood by me in Old Trafford wearing a Swans shirt and supporting the Swans. Neveroff has met him twice, away at Southampton and at Wembley. Now how would you describe him and what would you have called him 6 years ago when he 1st started watching the Swans? Not a glory hunter or a plastic that's for sure, after all he changed allegiances from Man Utd to us. What's to say that Mikra and other people like him can't end up doing the same.

We are a global brand now and I say welcome one and all otherwise there's no hope of us growing as a club and potential new fans joining the fold.

Straight question that's all yes or no ?

Kwame- Being away from the Swans sometimes makes you more fanatical!! thanks to the internet you can be plugged into more Swans stuff nowadays than you ever could years ago living on oystermouth road ! for me its just incredible that i have every Swans game on my TV at home live every saturday at 4pm ! settle down with a few beers or watch it with a few converted Swans fans is almost as good as being home or in the ground (almost)

The world really is getting alot smaller and you can be connected to all things swansea by a touch of a button. you can even twitter the players, join their facebook page, watch every interview on swansplayer, read the forums, look at the history of the club etc,etc its just mindblowing really.

When im over in Norway(back for the Spurs game next, ticketsorted already) i probably spend more time talking about the Swans than i do when im back in Swansea ! let nobody judge your affinity to your club, its something that means very different things to many different people.

I saw my first game when i was a young boy , i think it was a reserve game against Charlton at the Vetch, around 78' always went to the eat stand with my dad and brother but i never went every single week from then until now!! does that make me any less of a fan/supporter ??

I would be off surfing or gigging in a band or playing football or rugby myself some weekends/months so it was never a religion when i was growing up, sometimes i would finish reserve football and hot foot it down to the vetch sometimes i would finish reserve football and be called to play west wales rugby in the afternoon, does that make me less of a fan ??

What ever touches you touches you and its different for every person. I have no problem with people that consider the Swans to be their life, and i have no problem with people that consider them to be anything other than an afternoon out of the house. What evr floats your boat , we all fall in and out of love with things, people ,wives and football clubs sometimes you work through the pain sometimes your scarred for life!! if your reading this post you are definatly loving everything about the Swans, why else waste time on a poxy internet forum ??

There is the answer in a nutshell, if some guy from Denmark takes the time and effort to sign in here read all the bullshit we spout and still want to be a part of it than he is a 100% Jack Bastard in my book !! <cheers>
