Kelvin -7 - nothing to do really good save in the first half, alright distribution Clyne - 6 - Did alright nothing special Fonte - 7 Didn't really win enough headers but looked to pass the ball out Yoshida - 6 - same as fonte but with shocking distribution Shaw - 8 - One of the few players who looked like they cared Gaston - 6 - Not brilliant today starting to frustrate me a bit clearly has the talent but mucks simple things up. Morgan - 6 - Poor passing today but some good tackling Cork - 7 - decent energy and passing Puncheon - 8 - The only player who played their heart out. Lambert - 6 - First time he has been bossed about all season disappointing today barely won a thing in the air. Mayuka - 4 - Very excited when I saw his name on the sheet however his first touch was dreadful all game and he did bugger all. Davis - 8 - Good energy when he came on Guly - 7 - Tried hard Steve - 7 - Beat his man a few times decent crosses on his weaker foot as well.
Davis 7 Shaw 8 Yoshida 7 Fonte 7 Clyne 7 Cork 7 Morgan 6 Ramirez 4 Puncheon 4 Lambert 4 Mayuka 4 Steve 6 S Davis 6 Guly 6 As a team performance 3
Davis - 6 Clyne - 5 Fonte - 6 Yoshida - 5 Shaw - 7 Puncheon - 6 Cork - 7 Schneiderlin - 5 Ramirez - 6 Lambert - 6 Mayuka - 5 De Ridder - 4 S.Davis - 6 Guly - 6
Davis 7 Clyne 6 Fonte 6 Yoshida 6 Shaw 6 Puncheon 6 Morgan 5 Ramirez 3 - dreadful from such a quality player. Mayuka 6 Lambert 4 - One of his poorest Saints performances De Ridder 1 - One good cross but that's it. Get rid Adkins Davis 6 Guly 6 Adkins 4 - why the **** did he bring De Ridder on? Left Rodriguez on the bench.
Davis - 7, Superb save in opening seconds. Not much could be done about the goal. Nathaniel Clyne - 6, A decent display Jose Fonte - 7, A strong performance Maya Yoshida - 7, Looked comfortable at the back Luke Shaw - 6, His inexperience showed at times Jason Puncheon - 5, Frustrating today I thought Morgan Schneiderlin - 5, His worst display for the club in a while Jack Cork - 6, Hustle & Bustle but Saints lost the midfield Gaston Ramirez - 5, Poor today, looked very selfish at times Emmanuel Mayuka - 4, Awful today, but needs times to adapt Rickie Lambert - 4, His worst display for the club. Steve De Ridder - 5, Encouraging runs but no end product again Steve Davis - 6, Improvement on Schneiderlin Guly - 6, Didn't impact the game too much
Very surprised you gave Puncheon an 8, he was ****. Kept giving the ball away, very frustrating performance.
Cork 8- worked very hard and gave his usual unsung performance Fonte 7 - for me our most improved player of the season Shaw 6 - played well but lost fletcher too easily for the goal S Davis 7 The rest 5 Ramirez needs to start living up to his price tag
Davis - 7 - Great save at the start and not at fault for their goal. Also his kicking seemed better today. Clyne - 5 - Poor today IMO, a lot of misplaced passes Fonte - 7 - Played with real heart today, threw himself in front of everything Yoshida - 6 - Won a lot of headers, decent game except for the goal Shaw - 8 - Another great performance, even more impressive considering he is still only 17 Puncheon - 4 - Very poor game from him compared to recent performances. Constantly losing the ball although he did keep trying, just not his day. Schneiderlin - 5 - Not much better in all honestly. I would love to see the pass completion stats from this game. Cork - 6 - Average game Ramirez - 4 - Probably harshly marled considering his ridiculous potential but he was truly wasteful today. Mayuka - 5 - I really wanted him to do well and his pace did frighten their CBs but still poor unfortunately. Lambert - 5 - Completely bossed out of the game by O'Shea De Ridder - 7 - Looked the most dangerous of our player after his introduction, forcing MoN into an almost-instant substitution. Davis - 6 - Really looked like he wanted it, more so than most of the team. Guly - 5 - Not enough time to make much of an impact tbh
You need to add he would have looked dangerous if he had a final ball. He doesn't, therefore he was no threat at all.
I would have given him 0 if he hadn't produced a good corner. I was in the Chapel/Itchen corner so I had a great view of him and he was complete ****.
Davis 7 Clyne 6 Fonte 7 Yoshida 7 Shaw 6 Cork 7 Schneiderlin 7 Puncheon 6 Ramirez 3 Lambert 3 Mayuka 6 De Ridder 7 Davis 7 Guly 6
I'm sorry but I completely disagree. His corner (that he won himself) landed perfectly on the head of one of our CBs whose header was cleared off the line. Probably the closest we came to a goal.
Plus he was out of position and almost all the free kicks and corners were won by him towards the end.
Are you kidding? De Ridder did nothing worse than anyone else. Also, Fonte and Yoshida were fantastic.
Morgan was woeful. He gave the ball away so many times and it was probably one of the worst games I've seen him play. That said, he's been incredible this season, and he's still a key player in the team. And people who have written Ramirez off already need to get a grip, his vision is better than anyone else's, even today. It's easy to forget he's still VERY young, and adapting to the English game. It's not his fault he was bought for such a price tag, so you can't use that crappy 'live up to your price tag' argument. Mayuka was better than people are giving him credit for. Again, he's been thrown into his first start in the English game. He was making some positive movements and runs, although they were a bit early or offside, they will improve. It seems people have it stuck in their heads that De Ridder is ****. He isn't. He may have no final product but he did nothing wrong. We definitely don't need to 'get rid' after an actually encouraging performance from him. Luke Shaw played very well, excellent composure from such a young player. Maya and Jose also played very well at CB. A partnership is definitely growing. I apologise for the lack of logical order in that post but I thought I'd just give my view on the game. People need to stop throwing their toys out the pram after one defeat. (This isn't aimed at anyone in particular, just the ones who seem to put a downer on this forum.)
