Interesting. He played completely out of character. He's usually so safe and solid. Strange we didn't go with Martin if he Hoovield was ill, Martin's a decent cover for cb
That's a good point fatletiss, Adkins did say there was a flu going around the camp this week, and some of the players certainly looked lethargic. Take nothing away from Blackpool today, they were the better team and up for it.
Davis - 6 Butterfield - 4 Fonte - 6 Hooiveld - 5 Fox - 6 Chaplow - 4 Cork - 5 Morgan - 5 Lallana - 6 Sharp - 6 Guly - 6
Well as a person at the game: Davis: 6 - Good saves early on but poor distribution. Butterfield - 4 - Poor game Fonte - 4 Hooiveld - 5 Won some headers Fox - 5 Chaplow - 4 Spiderman - 4 Cork - 5 Lallana - 6 Guly - 3 Absolute awful. Sharp - 4 Bad pen miss. De Ridder - 5 Barnard - 6 Injected life upfront
What Butterfield who got skined by the player running into the box which led to their goal. I thought the job of a fullback was to stop wingers and he didnt do that. Im sorry I like both of our fullback but they got skined time and time again everytime the ball went wide you thought blackpool would score. Yes their good wingers but this is pro football and when they arnt good enough and get done they need to hold their hands up.
Moved from match thread Well, havn't posted for a while but on this occasion, think I'll put my oar in First off, on our day we're the best in the division, no question and the recent run has been excellent, definate automatic promotion form. However, looking at the match on TV, we certainly weren't at our best today. A very true statement is that a manager learns more about his players during a heavy defeat than when everything is rosy and NA will have taken careful note of this evening's events Blackpool are a strange team, rather hit or miss IMO but Holloway was rewarded for his bravery this time, changing more than half your team takes some guts even if you have been playing poorly in previous games and is proof that they still have a big squad, a leftover from last season's failed premiership campaign Thought our team performance smacked of complacency, though if early chances had been taken, it might have been a different story, we certainly like scoring first !! Think it's about time people got off Guly's back; besides KD, thought he was the only one who put in a real shift on the day. If you challenge for the ball, you're bound to give away a few fouls, I think the only reason he was replaced was that he'd given everything NA is not the sort to publicly criticise his players and it should only be done when all else has failed and we're certainly nowhere near that !! I'd be surprised if he didn't have some sharp words in private though because make no mistake, the only reason we didn't let in more goals was because Blackpool shut up shop, happy to let us have as much possession as we wanted around the half-way line. Think on this occasion, NA needs to take some flak himself for once though, on the day Morgan was poor and should have been been replaced with Deano after the 3rd goal But hey, it ain't doom and gloom, if we react like we did after the last defeat, automatic promotion is ours ! It's still all in our hands and we have 2 very winnable games coming up beginning with a certain game next Saturday. Top of the league with 6 games to go, I'll take that !! Onwards and upwards COYS
Davis - 6 - did what he had to do well. Butterfield - 4 - pretty anonymous throughout, Phillips had the beating of him Fonte - 5 - no protection from the midfield and had too many players running at him Hooiveld - should have dealt better with their 2nd and 3rd, fluffed a good chance too Fox - 5 - crap in defence, ok going forward Chaplow - 4 - pants Morgan - 5 - his passing wasn't its usual high standard Cork - 5 - never really got into the game Lallana - 6 - decent effort, but nothing was happening around him Sharp - 5 - made some decent runs, but never had much service to work with. The penalty was shocking though. Guly - 6 - thought he had a fairly decent game apart from one dodgy miss. De Ridder - 5 - right idea to bring him on, but wasn't really a threat Barnard - did he touch the ball? Adkins - 5 - Ollie clearly did his homework and we could have used some more bodies in midfield to match their midfield 3.
CBA to post all of my ratings, but particularly standout performances were for me...: - Butterfield was absolutely terrible. Really, really bad. Caught out of position several times, and he just doesn't have the pace to make up for that bad positioning. He misplaced passes, hoofed it out of play, and generally had a shocker. - Chaplow was pretty dire. Poor passing, no tackling, no engine, no bursting runs forward. Basically pointless. - Hooiveld had a pretty poor game.... Should have scored and then followed that up with diabolical defending for their second and absolutely Sunday-league marking for their third. Oh, and I know we don't have pace or truly decent out-and-out wingers, but that narrow diamond formation against a wide, pacey, attacking and expansive outfit in Blackpool was just asking for us to get pillaged down the wings. And sure enough, we were done time and time again due to lack of width. The amount of times I saw them lay a through-ball out to the wings where our fullbacks had either been too narrow or too far forward, was shameful. Sh*t day in the office.
Davis - 7 Butterfield - 4 Hooiveld 4 Fonte - 5 Fox - 4 Lallana - 6 Schneiderlin - 5 Cork - 5 Chaplow - 5 Guly - 4 Sharp - 5 De Ridder - 4
Guly was better than 4. In fact, he was BETTER THAN LALLANA. But oh, wait, Guly can't be rated better than Lallana BECAUSE HE'S FACKIN' GUUULLYY. Same goes to all you other Guly haters. So blinkered it beggars belief.
Davis-7-Made some good saves and looked pretty calm in front of goal. Butterfield-4-Awful display from this "right back" couldn't pass the ball or antecipate where it was going to end up.Poor defending. Fonte-3-Made so many errors, one lead to a goal,a really bad that at the office for the Portuguese defender. Hooiveld-4-Made a few errors, one lead to the 3rd goal, but looked calmer than Fonte so that's why he gets a 4. Fox-5-Some poor defending,at least he didn't hoof the ball forward so much. Cork-8-Energetic,good tackling and passing, but the rest of the team were poor so it was to no use. Schneiderlin-5-Didn't do much, passed the ball backwards and sideways for 99% of the time. Lallana-5-Didn't get into the game,I don't think the pitch helped.Very average. Chaplow-4-Very slow, didn't get any tackles in. Guly-6-Poor first half, gave away about 4 tackles in the space of two mins, but he worked very hard in the 2nd half and was creating spaces for Sharp to run on to but,of course,he was half asleep most of the time. Sharp-2-Well,what can I say?He didn't work hard enough,he missed a penalty and got caught offside about 5 times.Shocking display from him.Stop eating all the pies, you've got the talent there, but you need to stop eating all the pies. Subs: De Riddler-4-Pace and made 1 cross and did those little turns. Barnard-3-Invisible
He was much better than 4.He pass the ball around nicely in the 2nd half, but Sharp didn't know what to do...
Did you watch the match with your Guly hating blinkers on? I reckon you did, judging by your clueless comments.
Don't try and change his view on Guly, these Guly haters can't stand the man, anything negative he does is picked apart and used to slate him, anything positive he does is seen by them to be simple and something that every player should be able to do. These Guly haters, in short, fackin' hate Guly.
