Think its stranger that QPR are favourites to win the league..

Even though they've got 'arry in charge that squad still requires a HUGE overhaul just to last in the Championship, if they perform like they did last season they'll be like Wolves and drop down to League One without a whimper

Agree with most of it. They have more faith in Bournemouth than I do, and QPR are a wild card. Could bounce straight back or could disintegrate.

i think all the odds will change drastically. I'm actually surprised we're not in the bottom 3. We cant go an entire season with just one first team striker.

When clubs have made their signings i think it'll swap around a lot.

I don't know why Watford are so highly rated, they won't be allowed all those loanees now. At the end of last season Arry said he thought the QPR team as it stands would finish in the bottom half of the Championship, probably just his way of using the media to put pressure on his employer to let him get his hands on the cheque book. I think we're worth a flutter at 14/1 at William Hill's though.

I've seen a few people say this, but I feel like I'm missing something. Of their 14 loans last season, 10 were from Udinese and 2 were from Granada. Both of these clubs are owned by the same people as own Watford, so they could 'sell' the players to Watford for a penny and then back again at the end of the season. Fair enough, they'd lose the ability to recall a player from a loan spell, but I don't think it would be a disaster for them.

    That doesn't sound like Arry.

Ipswich at 7s seems like a decent bet to me. If the season had started on the day of Mick McCarthy's appointment, they would've finished 6th last season. That said, on the same basis, we would've finished two points behind in 7th, so maybe FHB has a point.

I think these big bookies have better intel than us and have a better idea which clubs are skint and have to sell players and which have money to spend. They have already factored that in. On that basis I am reassured they don't show us among the relegation strugglers.

Also the odds are not only decided by where they think teams will finish but how much money is being put on them. Supporters normally bet on their own teams if they bet at all, so the heavily supported clubs will have shorter odds.

I was surprised at how long the odds were for Sheffield Wendies.

It is true it is a massive club with massive and fanatical support but they are all massively skint and have no money to bet. Haven't you seen "The Full Monty"? If you had, you would know the only thing that is not massive about them.

The Full Monty was made 16 years ago, but maybe you watch it a lot.

Have you been to Sheffield recently? Great city. <ok>

Yep, I agree. A-level results permitting, FHB jnr. will be there from September for 4 years, apparently ice-hockey is massive there, which will take the edge off no local football team to support.

Sheffield Wednesday is massive there. <ok>

As far as I knew, when I lived in Nottingham it was always the Panthers and the Sheffield team in for the big trophies. Saw plenty of folk going to the ice hockey matches at evenings, but I don't think they had anything near the support of Notts County or the cricket team.

I think hillwalking is the number 1 hobby in Sheffield. <ok> Hope FHB jnr has a great time.

I want to see Yeovil Town stay up. They have such a low budget, terrible stadium, and the leagues underdogs. I'd be routing for them (after CAFC of course)!

Not really... It just makes a nicer story watching them beat QPR or Leicester with their multi-millions. Why I tend to route for the underdogs during the FA Cup.

Nah it's ok cafc as I agree anyway as it's my mum's home town team and her other half is a ST holder, although it's typical that we would have to get them away in January! <doh>

Yeovil is a lovely part of the world.

Will you have the same approach to Crystal Palace's year in the Premier League?
