    hey Dai, how's tricks?

good news indeed. Just need the management to recognise exactly that. Play him on the centre of the park and together with one or two others build the team.

Very interesting selection tomorrow. There's no way Whitts should start but I bet he does.

If he moves Ralls from the centre to accommodate him it'll move me back towards the Slade out camp.

I obviously agree with the OP that this is great news <ok>

Great to see him commit and agree it's the best "signing" of the season. It's the first part of Dai's post that's the worry.

Building a team around him as Dai puts it requires someone able to do it. On the evidence so far, Slade has proved incapable of adding anything of value to the squad. His acquisitions so far such as Revell, Doyle and O'Keefe etc smack of limited lower division knowledge that just doesn't work at this level.

Ralls is on the pitch amongst players already at the club at the time of Slade's arrival. The current starting 11 (and most subs) are by far and away inherited players with only Peltier plugging the RB slot getting regular pitch time.

That is just not good enough over a year into Slade's tenure especially with his stated intent to "build his own team" rather than using what he was handed.

Can't disgree with any of that to be honest.

However, for me the biggest problem with Slade is not the players he has/hasn't brought in. but a lack of tactical nous/knowledge.

I've said from day 1, a decent manager WITH OUR EXISTING PLAYERS would have us challenging for top spot. I still believe that to be true.

couldn't be arsed starting a new thread, but how can we sign an emergency loan striker when we've just loaned a striker out. Surely it was our choice to sign the player out and nothing has changed since that loan out.

What is the emergency? we obviously had more than enough strikers to be able to loan one out.

    Stupid rule!

Yes a bit of a silly rule now Remote, when it first started most loans were because of injury and the like but the word emergency really don't apply now.

Yes we have strikers either with us or loaned out. BUT apart from Jones none good enough and he's only up to it when his head is in the right place.

If we want to push on we need better players. If the rule allows we must take advantage.

That was back in the summer. Don't blame him. Hope you're wrong Sheepy but wouldn't be surprised. Lafferty seems the likely one but he is neither a speed merchant nor a goal machine.
