A few people here have been mentioning Rafa a lot lately. I'm just wondering, what does every one think Rafa would do with our current squad. How would he line up?

As we know he favours a 4231 formation, and always playing Kuyt, no matter the situation. The player I'm not entirely sure would fit in Rafa's team is Carroll, though he did sign Crouch so maybe he would welcome him. Making Carragher the chief defender on his arrival was a big call by Rafa when he first took was a big call, maybe he could spot another.

    Before:

    -------------------Reina----------------
    -Arbeloa-Carragher-Agger-Enrique-
    ----------Mascerano-Alonso-----------
    ---Kuyt---------Gerrard--------Riera--
    ------------------Torres-----------------

My guess for with our current squad.

    -------------------Reina------------------
    -Johnson---Skrtel----Agger---Enrique-
    -------------Lucas-----Adam-------------
    -----Kuyt-------Gerrard------Downing--
    ------------------Suarez------------------

Yes I have included Adam. Rafa likes neat passers. But I'd expect a signing there.

This is not a thread for or against Rafa, it is just a discussion.

Not slagging because this threads intent looks like a bit of fun but so far I've seen on here second guessing to a rediculous level.

Would we be any better with Rafa, Hodgeson/ insert a other.

If we'd bought every other player currently playing football would we be 7th?

If we win the Euro lottery consecutively for the next 52 weeks could we get Messi to replace that spawn of Satan Charlie Adam.

    They're not the managers
    We didn't buy different players
    We're not that lucky
He's just a poor sod that had a good season last year & some of his supposed fans actually cheered him getting injured last night because he hasn't replicated it this year.

If that's the future class of fan this club will attract maybe it'd be better if we stay mediocre: would reflect just nicely.

The downer I should have started with was:

Would MC Ultra have got a better blow if he'd been dating Dappy instead of Tulisa???

So why would he pick Adam then? Unless he likes a neat pass straight to the opposition? Henderson is a far better passer. <ok>

I think he would play Suarez and Gerrard up front and try and replicate the Gerrard/Torres partnership.

Henderson and Spearing as the 2 holding midfielders.

Maxi and Kuyt on the wings.

I don't think Rafa would have bought Carroll purely because he likes technical players who work hard - everyone knows Crouch because of his height but he is more dangerous with his feet.

Maxi was terrible under Rafa if I remember rightly. But yeah I think he would stick Bellamy/Downing there and use them like he would with Riera. We always looked much more balanced with a natural left footer in the team.
