His downfall was waiting one year too long, he mentions the mistakes, he repeated those mistakes last season and it cost us. Last season he said lessons have been learnt, well they hadn't and to add to the injury the crazy contracts issued by Orta with the loan releases. Radz was a stepping stone, we are better without him now, as for someone saying if they could go back in time they would follow Orta unconditionally, well it shows he still hasn't learnt why we failed. Edit* When he said follow Vic unconditionally, does he mean he would next time or he wouldn't? Edit** Watched it again, I think I misunderstood him, I took it that he would follow unconditionally, listening again I'm pretty sure he meant that was an error and he wouldn't next time
Well it’s onwards and upwards for me Hopefully this time the mistakes of the past will not be repeated
Personally, I think he speaks very honestly and accepts his part of the blame. So many people loved pointing out he hadn't a clue on how to run a football club so he put his total trust in his Director of Football and fair play to him for that. He had the balls to put his hand in his pocket when so many others didn't and brought sanity back to our club after Bates, GFH & Coco and I thank him for that. Ultimately, it didn't work and it cost him millions and fair play to him for taking that and not just lashing out. Some of the treatment he has had has been appalling in my opinion. Finally, I have loved Leeds United for 50 years and never wavered, occasional great stuff but so many tough, tough times so I also thank him for the first three golden years of Bielsa. If he carries the can for everything that went wrong, he has to take the Credit for some wonderful times too. Ps it will be interesting to see how Orta fairs at Sevilla - maybe his buying players for the future will work better in a more forgiving league?
From that snippet of interview he seems to recognise (sadly far too late) the errors of hiring Marche, and also buying so many players with no premier league experience, once we got promoted. In the main I think we could have told him it was a risky strategy, at that time, but I do believe his intentions were good.
