Is it getting blown out of proportion? Some thick Aberdeen player has come out wanting his say. Jason Roberts is just as much of a thick ****. By not wearing these tshirts aren't they segregating themselves? And do they realise racism works both ways
Norwich have the only coloured manager in the PL and i love Norwich.. That makes it impossible to be a racist..... In fact the reason we are 19th is probably because the Fa a nd all refs hate spades....
Who can forget when John Barnes was chased out of the Nunnery by the green and grey clad KKK memebers just because he could rap.
Yes I am sure they realise racism works both ways. As for segregating themselves. I don't see your point. Jason Roberts is saying that the Kick it Out Campaign is failing, so he won't support it until such time as they address the fundamental flaws in its approach. That is fair enough isn't it?
I saw what David James said a couple weeks ago and he hit the nail on the head. Not going scrape it all up as I'm lazy. Jason Roberts though comparing the racism Rose got to the "racism" Terry commited is idiotic. The man should never be allowed to have a mic in his hand.
What flaws though? Terry was proven in court not to have been racist. Yes he used the word black, but I bet if you ask Roberts if he's ever called anyone fat or gay his answer would be yes. Just giving a descriptive word means your racist. Next time Terry should say skinny or **** football **** and there won't be a problem. I bet you Roberts doesn't think racism goes both ways. He's so high on his horse and his ideas that he wouldn't even realise. He just likes having his voice heard, he was a twat on 606 (radio show).
Racism doesn't affect me but it is hard to find anything that would be offensive about my race. I'm a mixture of English, Welsh and way back when a dab of Irish too. Others may hate the English (Scotties, Taffies & The Mick in particular it seems if you look at this forum) but I can't say I've ever heard a slur that has made me want to react in any way. Being white also means I haven't had anything said to me that I find upsetting about my colour. Honky, redneck, limey, pommie, slave trader etc just makes me chuckle, I don't find it offensive. As white people and in particular British white people have been top dogs around the world for centuries it is us that have denegrated others with racial slurs. I guarantee we could all reel off at least 100 racial slurs for people around the world. Add disability or sexual orientation to this and the list could easily be doubled. I can't tell a black man not to be offended by monkey chants, if it upsets him then so be it. If I were black I don't think I would take kindly to having bananas thrown at me. If black football players think that not enough is being done to stop racism I'm not able to argue as I don't know to what level, if any, abuse needs to be reduced to where it stops being a problem. Sam Allardyce was on the news saying he hadn't heard any racist chants for years. I would suggest he walks around Upton Park with the West Ham faithful before a game and listens to what they are saying about Somalians. Just because football fans don't openly abuse black players on the pitch doesn't mean they don't hold racist views. You can stop someone saying racist things but can't easily stop them having racist thoughts. I don't see a change happening in the near future and Kick It Out might be on a hiding to nothing.
skinny **** I'm not a racist and I have brain so I would never call someone by their skin colour. Terry on the other hand is an air head and probably thinks like a child. He probably said the first words that came into his head.
So you are guessing what Jason Roberts thinks and does? And as for Kick it out Failing, John Terry ws charged by the FA and is not disputing that charge. What the court of law says is entirely irrelevant to what the football authorities say. A four match ban??? Lip service.
That's racist though. Let me get one of the Robert's or the aderdeen keeper's quotes right. It was something about we shouldn't be shouting about racism in Serbia as we have a problem back home. I don't see a problem. I have been to many football matches and have never heard any kind of racism. Terry and Suarez incident are of a minority. Suarez not being British makes it harder too.
No, I have built a portrait up of what he thinks by having to listen to him argue with 50% of the callers on 606 last year. He's a very opinionated man and likes having his voice heard.
There lies the problem. If you instantly use race when confronting someone it reveals what you may not under normal circumstances wish to divulge. When the first thing in an insult is 'black' it is not merely a descriptive such as fat or tall, it is in context and deemed racist. Terry was found not guilty of racially aggravated assault (racist language) as there wasn't enough proof of intent, a charge much harder to prove than the use of racist language that the FA found him guilty of. If he'd said "you ugly c--t" to Ferdinand he'd have gotten away with it. You might not like it but the law states using descriptive terms regarding colour, race, ethnicity etc are racist but, as in JT's case, it has to be proven beyond doubt before the law will do anything.
I think the real can of worms for the FA is consistency. Liverpool fans were up in arms about the difference in the punishments for Suares and Terry and probably have a point. The FA can talk about nuances and different elements in the case but all most people will think is Terry said "effing BC" and Suares said "negrito" yet one got double the ban. They need to be far clearer in explaining the reasons for the differences and then maybe people like Jason Roberts may feel differently. His reaction was interesting as he's never struck me as particularly having an axe to grind but, rather, is protecting the interests of players who don't like to be abused simply because of the colour of their skin. Although most people are probably sick and tired of it I don't really think it has been blown out of proportion. The FA can't push for sactions against serbia for what happened the other night whilst allowing players in their own game to chuck around racial insults with impunity.
Indeed, but if I made a complaint that I got called a "white prick" from a person of African origin, I would be laughed out of a police station. To be fair, I wouldn't complain as I would probably find it amusing. I've been called loads of **** in my life and have never been offended.
Not true. My mate who is from Gabon got lifted and went to court for calling my downstairs neighbour "white bitch"
