I'm not saying I agree with Joker but I don't think the analogy is a good one. As you know I'm not a massive fan of religion. It has me absolutely baffled that so many billions of people worldwide believe in some form of God. The sheer mechanics of it all is amusing to me. All these billions of people believing in different gods, all at odds with each other. Even if we give credence to one religion, they can't all be right so that means billions of people out there are worshipping something not real. There are cults out there with much smaller numbers, and the people believing in them and running them are described as mentally ill for worshipping something not real. As you know I'm a live and let live kinda guy. I don't care what colour you are, what your sexual preferences are or what god you want to believe in. I just don't give a **** because life is too short and I've met people from all walks of life who I like. We are all human is how I see it (with the exception of Chaos who is not human and probably an andromenan). So clearly I can see that all people who believe in a god are not what we would traditionally term mentally ill. I've had too many friends and people I respect who believe in one god or another. There are world leaders and some of the greatest minds known to man who have believed in one god or another. Yet I'd be lying if I said I don't find it bizarre they can get to that stage in their life, have so much success, yet all the while having this ongoing relationship with something I see as not real. My brother had an imaginary friend when he was little. I still rib him about it now. That was seen as ok then, but if he still had it now and was allowing that imaginary friend to guide his decisions in life I'd think he was ****ing nuts and needs sectioned. Granted everybody who believes has their own relationship with god. But to those of us who don't believe, you can probably see why we see it as not far from madness at times. So I can at least some form of logical thinking behind linking people who believe back to being mentally ill even if I disagree with the assertion - i.e. believing in something which isn't real is a bit mental. However I can see no logical reason why a person of a different skin colour would have any mental barrier to obtaining the same level of intelligence as someone of a different skin colour. The only barrier to that would be the fact we don't treat everyone equally. Religious teachings didn't help us in that regard either I have to say .
