Cisse has started wonderfully for Newcastle, though its notable how his position as goalscorer has displaced Demba Ba and caused him to be relatively barren. Newcastle were in a better position to get him though, with the change of manager at Sunderland it just wasn't a good time for them to be bringing in relatively unknown players - and O'Neil generally likes to stick to players he knows can perform in the league (i seem to recall a stat about him only ever having signed one player directly from a foreign team without seeing them play in the english leagues first). At Newcastle we've taken a number of calculated risks in the transfer market and so far they have almost unanimously paid off. Great scouting or great luck - hard to tell.
New player, unknown quantity, if he had outstanding qualities and can sustain goal scoring then a bigger German club would have snapped him up seasons ago.
I'd never heard of the lad to be honest. Would I have given you £9m back in January? No. Would I do so now? No. Great start for the lad yes but tbh, until he has performed at this level for 12-18 months plus, I wouldn't spend that kind of dough on any player from overseas.
Yawn, ,,,,,,,flying high again ? will we see you when you lose?,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,doubt it.,,, as I said YAWN.
