    Mine?
are you suggesting athiests dont try and explain the origins of the universe?
and as the OP is asking for the theories this is the only bit that matters

You can be a religious atheist, as contradictory as that sounds.
An atheist can believe in supernatural things, as long as they don't believe in a god or gods.

I didn't say that all Buddhists are atheists, by the way.
    Some are, some aren't.

    And you'd be wrong.
Religion is a massive world issue.
Why wouldn't some atheists have an interest in it?

When did I suggest that atheists don't try to explain the origins of the universe?
You've been given various theories by various atheists.

    I was referring to you.
It seems to me athiests are all smug and aggressive and demanding proof for everything
yet have very little in the way of proof for their beliefs, but still get aggressive

See proof is fine and well, If I want to find pout about athiesm from other sources I have google and books etc
I come on here to see what people think using their intelligence/knowledge

The Universe is contained within a tear which formed from the duct of an ugly giant. Once it completes it's fall from his cheek and plops on the ground we'll all die.

Can God make a box he cannot lift?

Intelligent design has been thoroughly debunked.
It makes absolutely no sense, especially when referring to the human body.

The most glaring example of this is the coccyx.
We have a tail bone, but no tail.
Who would put that there on purpose?

Various animals have DNA traces of random, pointless stuff that they shouldn't have, if they were designed.
Chickens have the DNA for teeth, for example.

I've seen no evidence of an afterlife, so I don't believe that there is one.
If someone were to show me some proof that one exists, then I'd change my mind.

Do we die for a reason?
    Not necessarily, no.

    Why all the pointless argument?

The Sun is on the wane and will die in approx 5 million years. Then it's all over. Until then have fun. <ok>

It was a question, as that was the impression I was getting
either that or you are avoiding/dodging

I love how its acceptable from your perspetive that 'various theories' have been put forward by 'various athiests'
yet you require hardcore proof, with references <laugh>

No, the nuclear winters we'll have for a millenia or two before it finally dies might be a bit of a clue.

Most of mankind will be dead long before the sun.

Now, who fancies a sing song?
