Steve McClaren’s admitted his side disappointed in him especially during the second half in the R’s 3-0 defeat at Griffin Park and wants them to get back to basics when taking on the Potters at Loftus Road on Saturday afternoon. After a hectic schedule in February, the R’s boss finally got a whole week to work with the players on the training ground and will hope that can make the difference against a Stoke side who have not won on the road since October. It’s been an emotional week for the Potters as they paid their respects to the legendary goalkeeper Gordan Banks who sadly lost his life last month. England's 1966 World Cup-winning goalkeeper spent seven years at Stoke. On the field, the Staffordshire outfit has found life difficult in their return to the Championship this season after previously spending the last ten years in English football’s top flight. The Potters were tipped by many bookmakers to make an instant return to the Premier League but find themselves in 16th place, ten points off the playoffs with only 11 games remaining. On paper Stoke are littered with players who have played at the highest level including Joe Allen, Bruno Martins Indi and Bojan Krkić but despite picking up some decent results have struggled to find any consistency this campaign. Their indifferent form led to the sacking of manager Gary Rowett after just eight months in charge at the bet365 stadium. They have turned to Nathan Jones, who guided Luton to promotion from League Two, to help save their season but they’ve won just two games since his appointment in January. It was the Angel Rangel show when the two sides last met back in November with the right-back scoring twice to earn QPR a deserved 2-2 draw.

I know this is sacrilege, but a 46 game season plus cup games is way too many for me. Prolongs the pain if you are struggling, prolongs the boredom if your are in mid table, ups the anxiety if you are pushing for promotion. And the quality is crap, because players are knackered and there is no time to coach them between games. But I suppose its good value in terms of quantity for ST holders, so good for them.

Very interesting read. Someone needs to get that seen by a wider audience to highlight the mess he's made, and the stupidity of giving him more influence in the game.
