Because he was twelve? Because he can't spell and therefore all assumed he meant Big Smith? Because Washington kept promising that one day he would start scoring goals? Who cares.

well done Rangers. Shrewd or lucky by Olly selecting Smyth? Whatever, has put a smile on my face:1980_boogie_down:

    Eh?

    https://www.qpr.co.uk/videos/interviews/ollie-on-cardiff-win/

He's given Chair, Oteh, Manning and now Smyth chances. I think he's doing all right in this respect. Anyway I'm celebrating with some 7. something percent Christmas beer present. Smyth was a breath of fresh air today and we got the bit of luck we didn't have at Millwall. 2018 is QPR's year so far.

Breath of fresh air for me
The boy runs off the ball like Owen and has no fear he wants to score but has the composure to pass
That was a brilliant debut and credit to Holloway for chucking him straight in

We have energy all over the pitch all of a sudden

I thought Smyth was more reminiscent of Bradley Allen, but, as you say, he really deserved his goal. Quick, skilful and brave, he gave their giant CBs a hard time all game. I thought he was going to run between Bamba's legs at one point. Well played son!

Chances but no prolonged run, apart from Manning last season of course. Ollie is cautious by nature and seems to prefer to go with the tried (if not trusted).

Wow what a last half hour.

Some negatives of course and how Cardiff didn’t equalise I really don’t know but some huge positives we can take from today and a rare opportunity to be upbeat for at least five days.

Smyth was wonderful. The most Holloway player since Holloway. Ran his little Irish legs off and such a great reaction to the goal which clearly meant a lot to the whole team on top of being a late-ish winner. However even more heartening I felt was he had no fear against a defence resembling something out of Zulu. He was more than happy to put himself about and have a pop at the ref and linesman like an experienced pro.

Onuoha gets a lot of stick but apart from one huge error to give away the ball he was great again as Robinson and Baptiste were. Rocks all of them against endless pressure. Cardiff’s long throws from pretty much all over the pitch were a real danger first half but I felt we were well organised and obviously gave some back with interest.

Would like to see the penalty again but it looked remarkably soft. Thought the ref did well in a tough game with a few bad challenges even if he did buy one too many dives from them. I don’t remember that being a trait of our Warnock team but perhaps my memory is selective.

Great atmosphere from the equaliser but morbid for an hour. Sheepshaggers got what they deserved.

Smyth was probably the biggest risk Ollie has taken as a manager according to himself. I rest my case.

Smyth certainly lightened everything up to day and was the difference between the 2 sides when we could have easily lost. It was like a peaceful version of a a 1 st World War shelling bombardment where the little guy snuck in and made the kill with a big big smile on his face. Cardiff looked like Millwall to me. Burton have won again and may provide a different test. But we can celebrate til then......

I thought their penalty just wasn't a penalty. The fella seemed to just run into Bidwell. I was convinced that the ref was going to overrule the lino when Hoillet scored, though. He was certainly in an offside position, but I thought he was played in by one of our players. If the ref thought otherwise, what was there for them to discuss for so long?

Yeah that’s how I saw the Hoilett one too. Unless someone at the back stick was offside?

Agree on the pen but Bidwell seems to give away a lot.

Maybe the ref belatedly realised he'd cocked up on the penalty award and wanted to ensure he didn't make a second serious error

A bit understandable to be cautious when we are where we are in the table. Was a big gamble today, paid off big time. I guess I'm thinking of previous Managers that haven't used the Kids as much as Holloway seems to. Even if he doesn't persevere with them, they at least get a go and taste for this level. Lets hope Smyth's injury wasn't bad and we see him again soon.

Happy New Year to all and sundry on Not606.

What a great result. Great to get one over Baadiff and of course Colin.
Sounds like an exciting debut from Smyth and has lifted many hearts of fans and players alike, which is fantastic to see.

We need to follow this up with a result at Burton now. Both teams getting a result and will be buoyant.
Will certainly feel like a 6-pointer. Let’s hope it will be a good game for us.

Well done to Holloway, the team and I hope Smyth celebrates his debut tonight in style - I know I will :1980_boogie_down:
    Great start to the year!

That's probably what they were disgusting with Warnock and Holloway providing the background bidding war shouting match

Just back, the most satisfying win especially given their not-a-penalty. Loved Smyrh’s goal and celebrattion - no monkey on the back for that boy!
