Did any of the older fans on here experience following the R's abroad on our few excursions into Europe ? I ask 'cos i was talking to my mate last week and he was giving more stories about when he went to Belgrade in the 80's and it seemed pretty mad. Personally i followed England abroad for over 10 years but never got my ultimate of following QPR in Europe...heres hoping in a few years time i might get to see it.
I went to the quarter final against AEK Athens when we lost a penalty shootout, after winning the 1st leg 3-0,cant say i enjoyed it much.
We played at Highbury in the 80's European tour cause we were not allowed to play on plastic. We played Rejakvic (probably spelt wrong) and won 3-0 - I also swapped a Rangers scarf with some Icelandic fans for Rejakvic scarf but could not tell you (without checking) the scorers. Partizan Belgrade was the next game - we won 6-2 but had a player sent off at 5-2 up (I believe Warren Neill). We lost 4-0 on the away leg and went out. We had a relatively young side that from what I remember froze in a hostile atmosphere.
The Partizan game was where my mate went, said it was proper mad all night and day. Partizan fans outside the hotel trying to break in and get at our lot and in a bar on the evening of the game he was even shot at. Sounds like fun, shame the result was so bad.
i went to colgne in germany to support the rs ,around 76,77 season , in the uefa cup . about 1500 r,s made the trip . we lost 1-4 but went through on away goal . scored by dave clement , i think . ended having punch ups with british army guys , from leeds ,trying to nick our scarves , also a massive set to ,outside ground with the germans , remember a rangers nut tipping a german fan out of his wheel chair ,in the melee , for mouthing of , that we were all english pig holigans . funny then , not now .

...that was when we did play 1.FCKöln in the Uefa Cup and lost 1-4 (after having won 3:0 at home) and went through to the next round against AEK. Cologne is a dump, that´s why they went do good old Düssi...
