It was already been investigated by an American lawyer who is apparently started to piss one or two shifty FIFA members off, even to the point where they are refusing to cooperate with the investigation. The funny thing is Blatter welcomed the investigation probably hoping to fix that too but he forgot the USA are one of the hosts he ripped off when awarding it to Qatar. Not sure when the findings for this are released but there's supposed to be some significant finds already which doesn't paint a good picture for FIFA.

As much as we don't like him either, Platini should use UEFA to start fighting back against FIFA's corruption (yeah UEFA ain't much better) especially since Platini and Blatter no longer get along.

There's a piece in the current Private Eye (not available online) that suggests the American lawyer is not one who tends to find anything that would discredit the people paying his fees.

$5 million doesn't seem a great deal in the grand scale of things.

Qatar 2022 (Nov 2010): Bin Hammam "definitely our biggest asset in the bid.”

Qatar 2022 (now): BH "played no official or unofficial role"

Says it all. Just strip them of the cup alfuckingready and do a revote.

Agree Macca. Although thanks to Blatter's stupid rule, it can't go to anybody in Europe due to his ridiculous cycle.

That doesn't bother me. I'd like to see it go to somewhere like Australia.

Yeah same. To be honest, I thought them or the USA would have won it.

If/When then fixing is found for Qatar, it will be interesting to see where that leaves Russia?

Russia will keep it. Unlike Qatar, nothing has really been proved that that was fixed.

Also, Russia is actually not a bad country to host it. They have the stadiums.

Even though the notion doesn’t seem to apply when choosing World Cup hosts, I think it’s Russia’s turn to have it

Just had a look at the final candidates for 2022:

Australia, Japan, South Korea, Qatar and the United States.

If those remain the same, I’d go with Australia.

Ridiculous that Japan and SK could even be considered after hosting so recently.

It should have been Australia hands down in the first place. They're one of the few nations that could host it almost instantly with their sports arenas.

Plus they've played in a few which should always be taken into consideration in my book.

It was always looking dodgy when the 2 hosts of Russia and Qatar were announced. It had corruption written all over it. FIFA should be disbanded they are a disgrace.

I wouldn't. We are still trying to uncover about 10 million quid of taxpayers money that is unaccounted for in our last bid.

    You already have the stadiums.

And it wouldn't be for another 8 years.

I'd ask Jack Warner about that if I were Oz.

    Yeah they do.

The point I'm making is if people are found to have been bribed for the Qatar vote, then it's the same people who voted for 2018 too. I'm not saying Russia's is fixed but how can the voters votes still stand if they are found guilty and forced to stand down. It could change the results completely.

But there is no real proof (yet) that Russia was definitely a fixed bid.

To revote on 2018 would at this moment be extremely unfair.

I'd vote for China as it also has the stadiums and it is the Year of the Tiger in 2022!

Even though they never originally bid?
