Just for a moment please let us forget the “Pulis Out” and concentrate on “Pulis in”

It`s not what I would wish, I would love to see the back of him but it`s just not going to happen.

So let us take a look what the future holds for Stoke City Football Club under his stewardship.

What changes would you suggest? (Remember this is a Pulis in thread). I think Mr Coates
should get him to change tack. I know it`s not for owners to dictate to their managers but
Mr Coates knows what`s wrong and as he is the man who has made it possible for Pulis
to spend £100m I think he should have a say.

Perhaps Ms Coates should spend a few moments with Tone and ask what the heck is he
doing with her money. I`m told that she doesn't take fools lightly.

A meeting with the manager and the supporters club may be fruitful and then Tone could
hear a few home truths from them.

How about a meeting of the players? They are the people on the front line, would it be
unthinkable to hear what their thoughts are?

We have to do something and whereas I support the “Pulis Out” thread I don`t believe
that it will do any good to continue.

I realise that we have the choice of turning our back on the club to show our disgust by
staying at home on match day, but that would be ignored by Pulis and we would be left
without our entertainment on Saturday afternoon.

I believe that we have been forced into a corner by the Coates family in their support of
Pulis. We can either carry on with our support under the conditions laid down by the family
or we could go to Burslem and see if we can achieve our dream there.

This is all very well Moe but as I've said personally,
It's the TEAM and SCFC I support. NOT Pulis.

And it (was a dream mate) now, it's a shambles, a shame it's happening, and a Manager who really does not get it!

See last nights Sentinel fans views comments on the game at the weekend? We can't stick this crap any longer, one quote was " Nothing has changed" at least I can't mate.

I've attended a few "Meet the Manager" over the last seasons and it really was pointless. A bit like our recent run of results I suppose.

Dream turns to nightmare shock horror!!

Moels, I did not have you marked down as a defeatist, if we want Pulis out, and we do, the ONLY way to make any impression on the 'Family' is to protest and hit them in the pocket, I know, here he goes again, but it IS the only way.

A 'Cool Hand Luke' moment coming up - "What we have here, is a failure to communicate" and Coates must be made to realise the feelings of the fans.

I do not want a situation as at Blackburn, which is purely farcical, it is just the opposite of the extremes, senselessness -v-perverse loyalty.

    Sorry mate - PULIS OUT

Its not realistic mate. TP will not change and more importantly can not change. He has built a whole coaching team around his philosiphy and he has even refered to it as a specific DNA? The average age of the squad is too old to develope moving forward and the net value of the whole team is akin to a mid to low championship club - in effect we are in negative equity!

Alot of people have harped on about our wage bill and being self sufficent, but we have a 55+ million wage bill and we run at a net loss of 10+ million a year (and that was with the extra revenue from the Europa) - those figures will only increase moving forward and apart from TV revenue there are only 3 ways to bridge that annual loss:

    1. Bigger gate reciepts: This would involve the corners being filled in to increase capicity or ticket prices being increased by approx 30%. The fundemental flaw is that we wont fill a 35K stadium and we cant sell the tickets at the low prices!
    2. Marketing/Sponsership. BET365 will become the headline sponser and the price will be fixed accordingly to what is best for BET365, its a blatent conflict of interest and cant be played off against another headline sponser for obvious reasons. We dont have a star(s) player(s) to make into a brand and sell merchandise off the back of.
    3. The development and sale of assets (Players). There is a site that values players and I think our whole squad came in at about 40 million. We have an accademy to date which hasnt produced the next Rooney and a buying policy which will see us invest 3-4 million into a player to then release him for free a few years down the line!

So the thing (con) that the infrusructure was being put in place to make us self sufficient and sustainable is flawed. We already run at a negative and the theory that the increased rev share moving forward will make us profitable is laughable. The revenue of every team will increase and they will spend the maximum they can, which means we will have to increase our spend to try and stand still! We have one of the smallest stadiums in the prem, low ticket prices, no brand sales, a devalued squad and year on year we lose additional prize money through lower league finshing positions and can't rely on cup runs - we dont win games.

TP/Coates vet all questions (trust me I have tried in the past) so a questions and answers forum will a propaganda campaign - remember the manager is Little Hitler!

Quote: Moels, I did not have you marked down as a defeatist

No i`m not a defeatist Nick but there will be thousands of us cheering our team on next season whether Pulis is still here or not. Personally I hope he is long gone by then. i was simply asking the question: “Is there a way forward with Pulis still at the club?” It was rumoured that he was going to be offered a job upstairs. Perhaps that would be the answer. I`ll tell you what, i`m fed up of hearing about the wonderful seasons we have had under Pulis. FA Cup and European adventure etc. I think Pulis should have the reality check as he keeps telling us to have and realise that we are only as good as our last game.

How can he move upstairs? How can he have any involvement with the football side of things? He isnt qualified to do any of that and more importantly he has failed! Would you have given BM from Reading or SK fro B'Blurn the director of football role? Its not like we are talking SAF here is it!

Just some clarity please Smithers-well thought out analysis by the way. If we are running at a 10m loss annually, but the new Tv deal is worth a minimum 14 million extra then the primary thought process by Coates, may well be survival at all costs; in some respects they could ignore the 3 additional ways to bridge the gap you mentioned as long as Stoke don' go down. Assuming that PL status is retained I honestly think Pullis will go in the summer. Coates is nobodies fool and he can see the writing on the wall re fans displeasure and the real prospects of falling gates, and I do think he will act by looking to improve the brand with a more pleasing style of play; in that way increasing stadium capacity would be worthwhile and achievable.

I made a few comments a while back that with the increased TV revenue due moving forward that the asset value of the club my be higher. So, with TV revenue secured, a title sponser in BET365 (at potentially competitive rates!) secured on a multi year deal, would coates sell?

The figures are difficult to really understand to be honest, because we dont know what salaries will be dropping off, and what salaries have increments in for the following year, what deffered transfer fees are due and what sponsers are renewing, due increments or not renewing. The worry for me was that the income included the successful Europa run which I think equated to additional 5 million and without the loss would have obviously been higher.

I think you make a valid point that increaed revenue (although I thought it was going to be substantially more) would be able to negate this loss, but it would leave no room for investement moving forward, it would just be a finger in the dam. It could be argued that if TP had managed to secure the final positions we should have achieved that the additional prize money in that alone would have signifcantly reduced the deficit itself. However, my main concern is that the increased TV money will just inflate the values of transfers and wages further (similiar to the transfer window) and if so we will be no better off! I am pretty sure that our current revenue income is one of the lowest in the league and the only way to increase that is to finish as high in the league as possible and have good cup runs, but to do that you have to win games....and there in lies the problem.

However if you were to win games, become a top half team, have decent cup runs I would imagine that by default we would be playing better football and by default the players would ahve better form (and would have a higher value) and as you point out we would probably be able to fill the corners with fans who would be willing to be a premium for their season ticket - happy days.

I agree with you....I think TP will go in the Summer on his and Coates own terms, probably with a gold statue next to Sir Stan as an everlasting memory of the legacy he has built and left us with!
