We might of spent more money than Arsenal in the last 5 yrs but im not sure what that says seeing as in our history of the football club .. we have never spent more than them before ! ever !!
Goes to show just how far behind them we really should be rather than a handful of points ?
They have been spending millions for years not 250k on your biggest target in div 1 or the champ..
    O the memories lol

Its irrelevant who we have spent more money than - the key stat is: We are the 3rd highest Net spending team in the Prem. That means we have spent more than 17 other teams.

im a little lost smithers ?
cuz we spend money as such where wud you like us to be top 6 ? never gonna happen unless rules change ?
we are in top 10 and we will finish top 10 ..
again thats just 4 places ?
we have yrs of catching up to do .. we dont create a prem team overnight and sit on it .. it evolves or down !
Im not sayin we are attractive to watch BUT if i was stokes chairman and Pulis brings in 60 mill a yr with mid table or upper table security what seriously can Stoke achieve ? we av a stadium of 27500 not 60000 or 75000..
attractiveness comes when stoke are higher profile and pay better wages !
on that score why dont we look at the teams we can actually compete against wages wise ? ( wages league cud be intersesting )
When stoke are at it they r great to watch other than grind it out like ALL THE OTHERS DO !
We are no different .. lets not get ahead of ourselves it then becomes bollox talk

Just to put another angle on this fella's...
I was litening to P and G last night and this young lad, a real avid Stokie spoke for about 3 mins.. sorry, I don't remember his name but for someone so young he talked a lot of sense IMHO.

He said " I appreciate where we were, where we are now etc" BUT when we play badly (apart from Liverpool his words) he added. " I have to go home and say to my mum, I did'nt ENJOY that game today" Say's it all for me. He also thought that Tony Pulis had taken us as far as he can. The poor lad was shot down in a way by one of the presenters who said " But stayin in this league is EVERYTHING, you watch. As soon as we reach the FORTY pt's mark. Tony Pulis will try Jerome and Jones up from re start them and the player's will be more relaxed????????? As we all know then. It's about money and NOT me, the rest of you guys on here and that BRILLIANTLY spoken young lad who obviously LOVES Stoke City F.C. IF you have not heard it, have a listen it's a real eye opener.

I have been a Potter since I don`t know when. I don`t really care what division we play in as long as we get our dose of entertaining footie on a Saturday. The lad is spot on. I have not ENJOYED the style of football we play and I am sick to death of hearing opponents say that we are the worst team in The Premiership. I hate it because it is true. We have some outstanding players but we have a manager who thinks of nothing more than his precious 40 points no matter how they are achieved. Boring boring boring. Will I be buying my season ticket for next season? Yes I suppose so but only in the hope that Mr Coates wakes up and appoints a manager that gives the fans what they desire ie a good game of football. win, draw or occasionally lose.

I would be willing to give di Canio or Zola a chance.
Fans not only desire it but deserve it after all these years in purgatory.

I received my season ticket re-newal forms this week... FACT is IF you are intending to re-new why do the club spend thousands on what is basically "junk mail". Makes me sick and I WILL NOT be re-newing next season because of ONE man. Clueliss is an absolute joker.
He also P****d around with the team last season if my memory is correct? And we fell away badly and even Wigan beat us on the final day.
That defeat cost us quite a few quid re where we finished. IMHO I would rather we attack home and away and I am sure we would be better off pts wise than we are right now.

Stupid thing is that I phoned the office and they told me. "If you don't renew next season, you will lose your seat to another fan.. <laugh>
NO I won't my 3 mates are chipping in and they will (share it) over the season. <ok> Me? I've better things to do on a Saturday afternoon and that's after what will be my 52nd year a Stoke fan.... in the words of Nicky.

SOD IT! IF Pulis does not GO, neither will I.

now now nicky lol stop that im just stating the obvious which sometimes we all forget !
I have 4 season tickets ... will i renew of course i will ... cuz the mrs says i got to lol
I do admit this season so far has been painful watching at times .. for me tho its how the games going not just how stoke play !
basically cause it is all about survival and the jackpot payout ..
think o the teams that come to stoke just to defend and sit back to stop us ?
plenty plenty do .. and then we call them dire
if i have to qoute a team Swansea ?
this team some of us want to be for some reason..
we have beat them both times at home cause they were absolutely shocking and woeful .. and dont come outa there own half
In fact we av beat them that easy its embarrassing to there fans that travelled . im not sure a stoke player broke sweat in both these fixtures !
the point im making is .. they are all a muchness in the dog eat dog prem
and yes most teams do play the same way just with differing quality of players !

    Its quite simple mate.

We have spent more because although investment was needed, it was spent with very little resale value - hence the net spend becomes even worse becasue on resale the value is akin to a championship team.

We have also never finished in the top 10 and last years low of 16th was a reflection on how far we havent come. I fully understand the logic of your argument and you're right in away that a promoted team has to spend (although other newbie teams havent and proved just or more successful) to inprove the raw quality of our team to a standard that can compete. However, if you look at our first 2 years in the prem I would argue that they were our best, low quality and low spend with a points to transfer spend ratio far higher than that of the last 2 season.

This year may see us in the top 10, but with between a 2 & 3 game buffer poiints wise on the cahsing pack if we didnt that would make the failure even worse!

    Smither's <ok> well said mate...

And Potterpalm, In your oppinion, whom do you blame for our poor finish last season?

NONE of us on here EVER expects S.C.F.C. to finish top six, and I know you don't either. And it certainly won't happen not whilst I'm still living anyhow.

Someone PLEASE te ME! And this is so feckin hard for me right now.

WHY after 52 years, ONLY four of those years I didn't have a season ticket. Shoud I RENEW mine this summer?

Because your a Stoke city supporter. Managers come and go and mess about with the team but at the end of the day it`s OUR club. Mr Pulis is on borrowed time so why, after 52 years let him spoil your Saturday afternoon`s entertainment?

Lads, I wouldn't buy into the conventional wisdom, it's invariably wrong. Stoke do not play the worst football in the league, not even close, and Pulis is not clueless.

Look at the stats... My team, Newcastle, play the largest percentage of long balls (and we have the smallest midfield, or did before we signed Sissoko). Stoke are lower down the table than most will realise.

From a neutral point of view, Stoke have a rigid formation, tall and strong players and play very direct. However, when they win the ball, they have numerous players who are capable of good interplay. It's incredibly effective and brings plaudits most weeks from the pundits. Pulis gets the best out of players in this formation, players who I'll admit to thinking are terrible... Cameron Jerome being one. My Dad supports Birmingham and knows full well the lad isn't prolific, but he's had a good scoring rate with Stoke, and that's no coincidence.

He spends a lot of money on players people think average or championship, but he does get his value from them. Maybe not Owen, nobody will ever get value for money from him. Personally, while that's working, I don't understand why there are so many quibbles about financial position. You aren't in danger of going bankrupt, your club seems incredibly well run etc...

Thanks for your response, but you obviously dont watch Stoke.

Correct on Jerome, a woeful record yet we bought him - but guess what? He is there abouts one of our best strikers after we have invested 45 million in the front line? 45 million in strikers yet year on year we are one of the lowest scoring teams in the professional leagues with an average negative goal difference of nigh on -20 per season!
