cologne, I know from QI that the age of consent in Vatican City is 12 but I don't know about a country with no age of consent.

It is Cameroon. Some of the laws are very vague on this one, e.g. in Bolivia consenting sex is only allowed after puberty but no age is specified. However Cameroon has no existing secular laws regarding this. So, over to you Frenchie.

During WWII eating out was quite popular as it helped out with rationing, but restaurants were capped as to how much they could charge for a meal. How much was that top figure?

I would guess under a Shilling, I think about 9 pence if we are talking about the so called 'British Restaurants`or community kitchens actually run by the ministry of food. For private restaurants maybe more ?

I have no idea where that answer came from. I just seemed to know it!

Where is the antipodes of Christchurch, NZ? I want an answer that is more specific than just a country.

Spot on, Dave, though you use the accursed Castilian version of the place name.
    Over to you.

The American one is wrong, the UK one is correct....;)

Other than that, there are three more zeros on a UK one - a million million as opposed to a thousand million.

Actually, since 1974, both have opted for the thousand million, the answer you have given me is not the correct answer, but it is a description of the correct answer!

I remember an episode of Mock the Week where they checked with HM Treasury which billion they use and the reply was "We'll have to get back to you on that". <laugh>

I'll pass it over to you as you all seem to be flummoxed!

The answer I was looking for was 999 thousand million!

I will assume that I should ask the next one. An easy one but I want both correct answers.

I have a log of wood eight feet long. I cut it exactly in half. I then cut those two pieces exactly in half. I then cut those pieces exactly in half. How long is each piece of wood?

What was it that William the Bastard did that was described as his 'cruelest act and a stain upon his soul'?

Am looking for what he did, the name commonly used to describe what he did as well as to whom he did it.
