I did. A local was asked what the animal was and the reply was not understood by the person who asked the question who thought he heard the answer "I do not understand you" in the language of the local.
When a film was made a few years ago about the mental instability of King George III it was simply titled "The Madness of King George," with no reference to which particular king George was referenced! Why?
It was thought that with the III at the end, it would create the impression in America that it was the 3rd film in a series and would wonder why they'd missed the first two!
Could have to do with American audiences thinking that it was a sequel to the existing Madness of George, thus King George was less confusing for their tiny brains than George III. Why we let the Yanks influence everything we do I don't know !
As a follow-on from my answer, it was more tactfully put by the man who had the lead role, the late Nigel Hawthorne "it is British history, so we have allowed for that in the marketing to an American audience".
Where will you find the surnames of 2 American actors, a British Prime Minister and an England manager?
To re-phrase the question: Where will you find towns that are also the surnames of 2 American actors (a father and son), a British Prime Minister and an England manager?
Ta - thought I would have got that earlier as I had a cousin (now deceased) who was a Hollywood actor and knew Kirk Douglas - and his family lived in Douglas! I'm currently struggling to load some anti-virus software onto a PC - it normally takes ages and is being particularly stubborn at the moment, so if anyone wants my turn, feel free....
PC problems resolved, so... I live mainly in forests; I am a herbivore; I can grow up to 50cm and weigh up to 12kg; I used to be known as a philander, but my name now sounds more like an Irish fruit. What am I?
