Indeedy Maestro. Knew it was too easy! <cheers>
Mercury: Diploma in Art; John Deacon BSc Hons Electronics; Roger Taylor a degree in Biology
Brian May also has a degree in physics as well as the other stuff... tried to go for the vaguely obscure one - astronomy or astro-physics would be way too easy!

Ok. My question is in 2 parts, and is relatively straightforward, and will probably be found on google

    a) Where is the Royal Military School of Music and what is it's name?

    b) Why or how did it come into being?

It is based at Kneller Hall, near Twickenham.

It came about after a complete balls up in 1854 when 20 bands came together to celebrate Queen Victoria's birthday, but due to never playing together they destroyed the national anthem. So George, Duke of Cambridge decided somethg needed doing and set up the first classes at Kneller Hall.

Does it help if I add that it was officially set up in 1857.

Is it because he missed off the 2nd part of question 1 - it being part of the Corps of Army Music

Is it something missing, or something incorrect?

Will try and give you a clue without giving too much away.

The EXACT location of the place.

The REASON why the balls up (good technical term <ok>) was made

    Second part is correct.

it was the instruments rather than the players making the balls up

Although it has a Twickenham postcode, it maybe a tad misleading <whistle>

    1. Whitton

    2. All of the twenty bands had their own arrangements for the national anthem, with different keys etc. When they played together it would have been a dreadful noise.

    Spot on oldfrenchhorn.

    Sorry Dan.

Because some of the instruments were in low pitch and high, then the clashes would have been horrendous.
