I thought I would just keep you in the picture as there has been no communication on this at all to the forums.

Pre the link up with Newsnow, the responsibility of promoting a thread to an article lay with the moderator of the forum. Since then, whilst testing out the Newsnow link and during the running in period, the facility to promote an article has been removed from moderators. Mick was looking round for threads to promote but then he appointed someone to undertake the task for him. Hence you may have suddenly found your thread promoted. This procedure will continue for a while until Mick has decided how it will operate in future.

The fact that threads are being "nicked" from the Horse Racing Forum is, of course, an honour and a credit to the posters on this forum, something we, as a forum, can be proud of.

However, when the task of promoting a thread to an article lay with the moderators, it was the moderators' responsibility to check for punctuation, spelling, grammatical errors and general finger slips, before ensuring it went into the right section, and Mick has been very strict on this. However, judged on a few recent promotions, it appears to have become a little lax in these respects. Therefore may I ask that, when posting a thread that could, potentially, be "nicked" for an article, you just double check it please before posting. It is almost impossible to know which threads will be used but it would be a great help if you could just bear in mind that it could be.

Once a thread has become an article there is nothing I can do; but if anyone has a post that they would like checked out before it's too late, feel free to PM me with the text and I will gladly check it through.

Once again, I would like to thank those who have had their posts promoted as it is, and will increasingly be, a great advertisement for our forum and, indeed, the site.

As soon as there is any news of a less temporary procedure, I will post details.

    Regards
    Ron
