Skybet have Argyle down as a 16-1 promotion chance. Rotherham are favourite at 3-1. Fleetwood second at 8-1. Chesterfield third at 9-1. Argyle joint sixth at 16-1. Exeter and Torquay joint 10th at 20-1. What do we think of that......does that seem fair at such an early time before teams have brought in new players ?
Yes the footy is on but I'm not really watching other than the occasional glance up. Busy here and elsewhere on my laptop - catching up somewhat. It wasn't the best idea to go back to work 7am Wednesday after taking my mate to Exeter airport for 6am. I will enjoy these 4 days off for sure.
I am happy are odds are low as we will show them that odds mean nothing at all, One thing I have to say I am shocked that Fleetwood are second favourite, I know teams that have come up have done really well but I don't see them being up there, I think they will be mid table. I know people did not expect Stevenage to be up there and do as well as they did, but I doubt that Fleetwood will be that good, they will probably do OK, as not many teams that come up struggle in the first season at least anymore, don't know why but a lot of non league teams get it right, but they will not be second favourite in my books. With Crawley it was different, people expected that they would be up there and they were but why do people think Fleetwood will be because also they have lost Vardy so what will they be like.
Why the Gills so low in the ratings.....brb & HOADIE_BOI........not surely because your managerless ?
Would not be surprised if it was why, I have put a bet on us now encase they change the odds, only a small bet, also my money is on Wycombe as I think they will be up there as they always are, just wonder if they can win it, I doubt we can win it but I think we could be top 3 if we do well. I would have put money on Plymouth, but not outright, I want one on just promotion, that is the one I mainly want to put money on Gillingham as that will cover me for top 3 and Play Offs, that is where I think we will be at least and I think you will be up there aswell.
Betting odds change very quickly. Lesson in gambling here. The bookie is called bookie because he makes a book to allow him to break even or indeed make a profit from the bets placed. When the odds are set at the outset it is a guess based on possible betting practices of the mugs otherwise known as punters. But, essentially it is money that dictates the odds and the favourite will become the one with most money laid on it to win. If everyone bet on one team it would be odds on and so short in price to make it not worth the punt. If a 3 legged donkey was entered into the National and everyone bet on it then it would be favourite. Ergo money makes favourites not the bookies themselves.
So Rotherham sell their top scorer Grabban to Bournemouth.......that makes a mockery of their 3-1 odds as favourites for promotion.....or have they bought someone better.........can we try and sell our top scorer Walton......no that is too much to ask for.
