With Pompey now (a) safe from relegation and (b) out of contention for the playoffs we now find ourselves heading for a position of mid-table mediocrity, something we would have been more than happy to take at the start of the season. But this now beggars the question: Is there prize money in the Football League dependent on your league finish (as in the Premier League, but on a much smaller scale, obviously) or is it now just a case of playing for pride?
Isn't it referred to as the comfort of mid table mediocrity? I have to say it's a lot more comfortable than the thought of sliding down the divisions which is where at one point we looked like we could be heading.
I think we will be just playing for pride now, as I'm 99% sure that the money hierarchy is not the same in the football leagues as it is the premier leagues. As well, time for Steve, Lampitt and Co to start making plans to present to; and have ready to implemtent with, the new owners.
