I don't disagree but that wasn't the point I was making. The internet was a military invention and the creation of WWW was the antithesis of capitalism. You could actually argue that capitalism has corrupted the internet like it does everything else.
It was free email servers that drove the internet from a geeky tool to a thing for the masses -preceding this, the also free Mosaic Browser.
