Just a thought, but considering the amount of money now coming into the premier league, Is it worth making a Premier League 2nd division from the championship clubs, there is enough money going about for it to happen, plus there would be extra revenue added on? What do you guys think.
In short, i think it's pointless, and will only alienate the smaller clubs even more. When the premier league split from the FA, it was, in my opinion, the worst possible thing for smaller clubs. As we all know, the rich are getting richer, whilst the smaller clubs are struggling more and more. You will then have a handful of rich foreign investors, who think by splashing millions into a lower league football club, they can can get them to the riches of the premier league, but unfortunately, it's usually with disasterous results (ala Portsmouth, Leeds..etc) We need to have only one body in football (i.e the FA) controlling the whole league pyramid, from the premier league down to the conference. I can actually see football turning into a joke, like darts, where teams can only play in competitions run by each body.
Its strange you make the comparison with darts because its more like it than you realise, with Darts you had a "governing body" in the BDO who couldn't seal a deal of any great money terms and the players got restless because they could see their careers going under so they joined together to make what is the PDC and this has increased their income by incredible amounts to the extent that somebody outside the top 32 can earn a living outside the game. that was only done by the PDC. Thats brings me to football, if the premier league took control of the whole leagues that would increase the revenue of the clubs because the FA can't get decent deals done and the clubs don't get the money, keep the FA as the governing body for the rules and such like, but let the premier league control the TV rights and i am sure even the Lutons and stevenages of this world would be ok.
