Just watched Poyet's Press Conference, here are the main quotes to summarise:

*Asked about team news and injuries*

"We need to make a deal. I will answer questions but not injuries. I cannot give away any info to the opposition."

"Gary Dicker and Tommy Elphick (are out), all the others are training but some may not be in contention."

"It is not a normal game, it's a special one. They are a Premiership club and are spending a lot of money to get back (to the Prem)."

    *Why is it Special?*

"Because of what was said, and last year there was rivalry. But we beat them over 46 games, which is an achievement."

"We are now on the other side. Nigel will feel how I felt for 6 months. Everyone wants to beat the leaders. With their record at home, blah, blah, blah."

"I do not believe that one game says who is better. England is not better than Spain, but England won."

*Asked about what Saturday's result may show*

"Winning or losing to Southampton does not say who is better or worse over 46 games."

"This is a nice game. Two weeks ago must win, now it is not."

"But right now, now Southampton are the best team in this league. By far."

*Asked about Palace and Southampton in comparison*

"To the fans the Palace derby is more important. For me, Southampton is. Because Southampton are a better team than Palace."

"This is the biggest game so far. Bigger than West Ham because the leaders is always the biggest game."

*What do you think of Nigel Adkins?*

"I know him well, I did my Pro Licence with him. He's a great man and has done a terrific job. He would win 49 out of 50 competitive games."

"Unfortunately Nigel had Brighton last season."

"He had only one problem. Not his style or his tactics or his players. He was not better than Brighton."

"They play good football. That's why they are top of the league. Whether top or bottom I always say, the table never lies and people who doesn't think that is true because they believe in, I cannot say... Father Christmas. Don't put that."

*Why have Southampton been able to carry their form over?*

"Because they played 46 games in League One with Championship players."

Imagine having to listen his 'managers comments' before and after every match! Another reason to love our Nigel.

Thats interesting as they have spent more then us this year!
And do you get the impression that he wants to make the point Brighton won the league last season and now Saints are top of the championship some of the shine might of come off that achievement

Gus wants to stop worrying about last year & concentrate on this one. Yes it was a fantastic season for brighton & a great achievement to win the league, but now he's hardly been left wanting for resources & is currently on the slide to lower mid-table obscurity. He comes across as very bitter that we're getting all the attention, but its wholly deseved thanks to the quality of football we're playing

"He had only one problem. Not his style or his tactics or his players. He was not better than Brighton." Not strictly true, as if you take the league from just when Adkins was in charge we would of won it.

    Poyet can't lose.

If we win so what we are top and our home record is superb what else could you expect?

If they win well Gus will be described as a tactical genius.

Our boys just have to go out, concentrate and, as the Germans say, kick the ball about for 90 minutes and at the end we win.

I am so disappointed that important family matters mean I will miss the game, my first this season, so I want someone to cheer Morgan and Guly's every move loudly in my absence. Thanks.

So which one of these inaccurate statements is it Gus?

Tbf, I don't think he's wildly out with either of those.

Saints are a Premier League club, just striving to regain the old status. We've just slipped a division or two, in the past, to clear out some deadwood. And we did play League One with a fair few Championship players onboard.

    So he's not miles out.

Yeah I know but I just can't abide statements spun with a dose of sour grapes and Mr Poyet seems full of them.

I listened to the whole interview live on Talksport this morning, he spent the first 5 minutes belittling saints.. And felt compelled to start with "we won the league".. and the going on about how we just kick the ball to Lambert..

If i was a brighton fan i would be really angry, one for having such a fool for a manager.. but mainly as they are trying to do everything they can to stop homophobic chanting, yet have a manager that says "i can't do anything about what happens in the stands".... I don't think it's just us Saints fans he has alienated now, everyone is realising what a fool he is.

Yes, I know what you mean. My problem [?] is probably that I can't be bothered to bear him a grudge for what he says. We'll beat his team, and that will be the end of it for me. Interest over. But I know some [not saying you] wil carry it years, bringing it up time and again. I'm afraid I haven't the interest or energy for that sort ot thing.

If I gave a toss, that would be tantamount to showing interest in another club, and I certainly can't be bothered with any club other than Saints.

I see he's now leapt to the defence of Suarez as well. He should learn to keep his mouth shut. Let's hope we thrash them tomorrow!
