Lots of pace in the squad with some width to go with it, i say lets hit the season running get stuck from the start. Loft and Pritchard to help out with the defence with, with the wide boys whipping in the crosses, this is where we might see cody and Keds working better

Looking at the preseason games I now feel that PT will go for a more regular 4-4-2 and play Hess alongside Loft rather than Dack in a more advanced role. I think Dickenson and McGlashan are pretty much dead certs for MK Dons. The real question still seems to be who will be playing at CB.

I make you right Pegleg, certainly the idea i got on Saturday and you will get more out of Cosy in a traditional 442. On the centre back issue, I would have to go for Egan and Legge, although I would still like to see another defender come in.

The only other thing is Aaron Morris, i've heard from several sources that he is quality, so would be good to see him at some point, going saturday so perhaps he will play. I've been told he's good at both centre half and centre mid, so perhaps he is the other centre half?

Would we really start with 2 out and out wingers and 2 up top in the first game away from home?

I hear we have played 4-4-2 in all the pre-season games. But I think that's a risk if 2 of the 4 are definite wingers.
I'd have thought 5 in the middle (if McGlashen & Dickenson both start). With 2 of them further back (Loft & Hess?) and one further fwd (Keds or Dack?). With Cody up top. I know people say he cant play up top on his own. But I think with our current squad and the pace in it, he would not be isolated like before.

I reckon when playing away, if you set out a 4-5-1 (or 4-2-3-1) correctly, it becomes a 4-3-3 when you have the ball if you can attack with pace. I think if we start with a 4-4-2 including Dicko, Macca, Cody & Keds there is the potential for it to go badly wrong against a decent team like MK. We might effectively be playing 4-2-4 unless the wide men are very good defensively. Are they?

Definitely a fair point, and i must admit I was more thinking about our best performing 11 rather than having the MK Dons game in particular in mind.

To answer your question, no, from what i've seen Mcglashan and Dickensen don't appear to be great defensively, but do we need them to be? If we have the back 4, with Hess and Loft box to box (Hess probably slightly behind) then you just have Mcglashan and Dickensen working hard back, it should give us enough behind the ball.

I'd hate to see us sit back in the MK Dons game waiting to be picked off, when we did that last season we were awful and a loss waiting to happen, hitting on the break is the way to do it with our pace in the team. Although having said all that, I wouldn't be surprised to see us play 1 up top and a traditional holding player (Morris maybe) in a protecting role.

Whatever happens i can't wait to be in MK for that first game! Got the tickets through yesterday and picked up my season ticket so can't wait for it to all start again.
