This feels like a huge win in the title race, i as to give credit to all the players tonight especially David De Gea who has been criticised all season, I backed him from the start, i was telling people he would come good and I was right, that was our 3rd win at Ewood Park since 1998 just proves how tough a place it is to get a result there. 5 Point gap at this stage is massive and i hope we continue our good form. Thoughts ?
QPR at a home next. It's a game we should win but oddly we have looked better away from home this season.
Things are bad, when your best player has more passion for a social network site than the actual football club he is payed by
Standout players for me were Valencia and De Gea. United supporters did themselves proud tonight, an electric display by the fans.
I agree shwan. Most UTD fans are so in love with rooney they cant see ANY of his shortcomings We have been missing a genuine striker (in the mold of a Benzema, Huntelaar even Ba) for some time now Realistically welbeck isnt there yet, chicha is a impact sub at best and Rooney is too inconsistent and not a main striker Yes he has goals but he has no presence in the 6 yard box. In fact he is hardly in it these days. Valencia put in 15 crosses alone. No one was there People pick on Nani because he doesnt cross the ball. Valencia today proved why. Valencia will do what he does every game he is predictable and consistent Nani is more a thinking player, he will look up and not just whip the ball in regardless. Yet he gets stick Young has been doing the same thing and he has been getting stick Today the team were magnificent but were let down by the strikers. Most of Blackburns counter attacks were based on the strikers (specifically rooney) losing the ball People see his cross field pass into space for a consistent valencia to latch onto and think he is a midfield maestro, yet those who play the game will tell you this is the easier of the passes, yet looks hollywood. When it comes to the intricate play outside the box and teh clever passes he loses the ball Today we had a 3 men in the middle. There was no need for another. The commentators were waxing lyrical about oh look he is in the middle killing the game, get up front and score a couple you are a striker rant over, q the rooney love fest and the plastic fan/wum/glory hunter claims
. Agree with this. Rooney is wasted when not playing centrally and Chicharito should never play up top by himself, he doesn't have enough of anything in his book to be a lone striker. He plays best when defenders have to decide to mark him or the person playing off of him which creates a lot of space.
But you have to say that the way Blackburn set up nullified Hernandez generally pretty well. I get what you're saying, when he plays on the last man, the defence usually has to drop deeper, allows space for Rooney to play. But when the opposition defence and pretty deep to start off with, and when the opposition have a few sitting midfielders, there was pretty much no room for Rooney to play between their midfield and defence. It's not that Hernandez can't play up front on his own, but the opposition defence has a lot to say whether it will be effective. Bear in mind that when we play with Hernandez and Rooney, it's more often 4-4-1-1, so technically you can say he plays up front on his own more often than not! I don't have a problem with us playing 4-5-1/4-3-3 but we need two wide men because we simply cannot or will not go through the middle. Certainly not with Valencia in the team. But why should we change plan A when it really hasn't failed to work? We are far more one-dimensional without Nani or to a lesser extent Young, but so are Barcelona, and they aren't going to suddenly play with another dimension of play.
Good point, that would have been a perfect game for Berbatov to play in, probably could have scored another 5 goals! For a good chunk of the first half we had over 80% possession with Blackburn sitting deep. The problem we have with a 433 and a 451 is we our game is derived around with. Generally speaking, our wingers hug the touchline and when they do cut in our fullbacks provide the extra width. Yesterday we had no one in the box for crosses, which makes wing play useless. Our 4411 is more a variation of a 442 rather than a 451. It's designed for specifically for Rooney to operate in space between the midfield and defense, which is where he is most lethal. In the 4411, Roomey doesn't have any major defensive obligations, so he can come back when needed or to help control the game and start the attack.
