Jones and Buckley look as if they can make things happen for us.
Got to say I was very impressed with Jones attacking and willingness to make runs.
His runs were well timed and begging to be played the ball.
Huth did well on 3 or 4 occasions getting himself in the way of Jones's cut backs.

14 and 27 (did not catch their names), but they were great, Bridcutt is a championship player though, and looks like the end for Poyet after the Stoke league game cos these lazy so and so's O Shea etc are going to get yet another manager sacked.

Vito,Jones, Vergini/Coates, Brown, PVA., sorted now put Whicks up front and sort out the three to play in front of Catts, and sink or swim to the next window

Big positive is no more embarrassingly low home league cup attendances this season..

PVA and Buckley where the only pluses for me, Rodwell was ok first half and Bridcutt second half when we pushed on but neither were anything special over 90 minutes, Johnson was starved of service and only received the ball when defenders were tight on.

Mike Dean was disgraceful but we beat ourselves by sitting deep and playing too many passes along the back line.

Definite positive. Took the goal very well and played well for about 10 minutes afterwards... But that was it sadly! Really poor first touch. Hoped the goal would spark something but he truly couldn't trap a bag of cement!!

I was really hoping he would step up.

What more could the lad do?

He scored a very good goal and apart from that had the worst service I've seen to date!!

This poyet set up is not a strikers dream we could have Diego Costa playing for us and not be scoring....

When you are playing as the lone striker with your back to goal, you have to make yourself available and bring others into play when you get the ball, Jozy hardly ever lost his marker, so couldn't bring anyone into the play. He didn't track back and press their midfield when he lost the ball but stood with his hands on his hips or ambled back to the half way line.

However I do have a bit of sympathy with him, midfield players should be getting alongside or past the lone striker for the system to be effective, from what I seen last night, only Buckley and to a lesser extent Johnson managed to do that.

The only real killer passes (2) were made by vergini so says a lot about last night. Nice keep ball (in our own half) with no penetration.

You watched a different game to me then mate.
There was plenty of ball going in his direction, quite a lot of them straight to him.
The ball was bouncing off him at all angles.
And for a big lad he goes down more than my grandson when you take his walker away.
He fell over at least three times with no one near him, I would seriously get him a brain scan as he clearly has a balance issue.
MY mate rang me this morning to ask for a lift to Skunk land.
When we were talking about the game, he cracked me up with "Did you see Altidore fall over after he scored?"
IT hadn't registered with while watching as I was so pleased he scored.
So have watched the goals back today and he ****ing does fall over after scoring. hahahah

Your defence of him is admirable but please don't expect others who saw the same game to ignore his serious flaws as a front man.

Its been such a long while since there has been a player I've wanted to do well as Altidore, but be so woeful, whatever the reasons why.

Theres a striker in there, but in England, in the PL, in our set up, the are huge question marks.

I think that's the problem mate we are all willing him to do better and would love to see him bring smiles to our faces.
Far too often he only brings frowns.

Jozy is a big lad, so people think he is a target man, but he does better when the ball is played along the ground. last night he has Stoke players hanging onto him all the time and the only service he received were punts up the pitch. Stoke players are better than they used to be when they have the ball, but they still resort to rugby tactics when they dont.

Anyway, Jozy divides opinions and arguing about it for the umpteenth time wont change opinions.

I dont think we played as badly as people are making out. We sat too far back once we scored, but overall I didnt think our play was too bad. The biggest difference between the team were the GKs imo. Mannone wont be scared about losing his place to Pantimilion anytime soon. How he missed the ball for the 1st goal I'll never know, and for the 2nd one he should of caught the bloody ball instead of punching it out? Whats the point in being 6"8 if you still flap at the ball ? His distribution was piss poor at times as well.

Jones (at RB 2nd half), Buckley, PVA, Rodwell all looked good. So did Alvarez for the short time he was on the pitch.

Gomez was ok and AJ did well with the service he had.

Bridcutt is an enigma. looked good occasionally and did some nice moves, but looked lost the rest of the time.

Vergini is an excellent player, need to get playing at CB so we can get Jones in at RB though as he doesnt have Jones' pace to break up the wing

O'shea same as normal, and Coates looked ok considering how little playing time he has had

    edit:

people saying we played piss poor last night obviously dont remember us under PDC beginning of last season ;) Yes we still need to improve, but still plenty of positives compared.
