We could have won every category of those EFL awards! From best player, best manager, best team, best youngster, best community club, ownership, commercial, but tbh, I couldnt give a flying f...k about awards! Just get out of this dreadful league. Thats the real prize that everyone wants.
Watched the replay last night, another brilliant win! We are a very good team now that the four January signings have been integrated and have learned how we play and how we train. All four are starters now, I reckon that we could sign Hirst permanently if Leicester are willing to sell. He, like all of the players, must be absolutely loving playing for McKenna, his team mates and the fans. What McKenna has done is got us operating like a premier league team. The intense training, taking the coach to home games and driving through the town to soak up the atmosphere as fans go to the stadium, the tactical preparation for each game. Every player is in form due to the way McKenna goes about his business. The standards have been set, you either embrace it, or you get left behind. Every player is working for the team, we don't have selfish players only worried about their own stats. Our forward players make good decisions that increase the chances of scoring. A selfish striker is just that, selfish, and will take shots when there are better options. We have none of that in our team and yet the numbers for the likes of Hirst, Ladapo and Chaplin are still good. Our midfield two are dynamic and willing to put in the hard graft and strong tackles needed to command the central areas and make it difficult for the other team to get any rhythm. We press hard and fast from the front, and not in singles, but in pairs and the team is always joined up with support available at all times. Our defenders are doing well, and just as defending starts from the front, attacks start from the back, with both CBs comfortable on the ball and capable of making key forward passes to start a move upfield. During the second half, I was kind of wishing that we teased Peterborough by having Walton or Woolfenden literally just stand there with the ball until somebody came to get it. And I mean just stand there, not looking for a pass, not moving upfield, just stand there, with the ball, and goad them out. I have to admit, I'd find that quite amusing
Nice summary San Diego. In fact, several times our defense and Walton just stood on the ball a few moments, drew a player and waited. Nothing in the rule book saying you cant do that!
Best chant of the game.... We're coming for you, We're coming for you, Norwich city...... We're coming for you!! Loved it!!
