    Looks like the news from Fratton Park just got worse. 'Parent' company now filing for insolvency. Does that mean points deducted?

    Probably.

    I might have some sympathy if they hadn't gone signing £1m a year players while paying pennies in the pound from their previous administration.

    I think you're mistaken using the word "now", they've been insolvent for the past 5 years. It's only because the Premiership covered up for them, to protect their own self interest (they couldn't have a club go to the wall) that they got away with it.Like Luton, the big wigs wont give a shiny shiete about them now they're a FL club..........

    I recall Pompey being insolvent around the same time we were due to play them last year.?

    Could history be repeating itself.?

    Looking at the BBC Sport report, if the parent company, which has gone into administration, is found to be "inextricably linked" with the football club (as it was with the Saints) then the club is almost certainly to be deducted points

    Yes take the point but I live along the coast from Portsmouth and know many supporters well - they are gutted that the club keeps getting f***ed up by greedy and deceitful owners.

    Is it just me, or are Portsmouth owners exempt from the fit and proper persons rule?

    I wonder what Appleton is thinking now, and what he has got himself into? On the other hand Cotterill must be happy he got out in time.

    Agree - at the end of the day it's the fans that will suffer and it's not their fault owners keep flouting the rules. It's easy to have a '****'em' attitude but bear in mind had Duffman etc carried on the way they were going it's not implausible that it could have been us this was happening to.

    Got to feel sorry for the fans, it's not like they've had one dodgy owner, they just keep getting one after the other ****ing them up more and more. I know they milked the success they had but who wouldn't, we loved our premiership journey which shouldn't really have been financially possible (I don't think, depends which if the rumours concerning where the money went are correct). I hope the ones who are responsible for all this are royally ****ed up the arse personally and it's not taken out on the club, which will probably end up in pompy completely slipping out the league and out of business. It's not good for a football club to die and it will be awful for their community. Imagine if we were in danger of losing our club due to some snakes who decided to buy it...

    Pompeys parent company has gone into administation, the actual club itself doesn't have a debt, its a bit like losing your job, they'll have no way to dip hands in pockets and pay staff n players. Afternoon Original <ok>

    As usual it's the fans who suffer and they have continued to support the team through all this as we have in the past so hats of to them for that, also it ain't the tea lady or the cleaners etc fault but it is people like them that can't afford to loose a penny let alone their jobs, so I for one hope this doesn't happen and they get some decent owners and recover as a FOOTBALL club. Still want to take 6 points from them though.

    <cheers>

    Gotta have sympathy for the true supporters, getting f*cked all ways round here, oh how David Norris must be kicking himself.

    Completely agree. We got relegated with no money and had to scrape the barrel on every possible signing for a year, they came down with even worse financial problems and carried on buying PL players on ludicrous wages, and then complained they couldn't afford to fill the subs bench so we all have to put up with 5 subs now.

    I begin to wonder if in the future it may be that clubs drop right out of the rat race, and start over again (like Wimbledon in a way). If there is good support for a football club in that area (as there is in Portsmouth) then they will rise through the leagues no doubt, and what a ride that would be (again like Wimbledon).
    The people running clubs like that are doing so for the right reasons and lay the basis for a great club. For fans to tell the story of how they supported a club from the amateur leagues through to the Football League, must be a great yarn.

    If Pompey come back from this they would have had more comebacks than Frank Sinatra!
