I joined the Army to play music, some Bandsmen friends of mine got killed in a bomb attack, whilst doing the same on Regents park bandstand.

I put money into the fund every year, but don't wear the poppy as I don't feel worthy of them. I hope that the money is still paid out to their families.

So, you dont hate the British Army?

And the point of this thread? To mock people who give to a charity connected to the British Army?

At the level I was at the time, the only way to play as a professional, which was what I really wanted to do, was to join up. I wasn't good enough to make it into one of the top orchestras.

Mrs Thatch made a lot of us redundant, so that was it for me as a pro!
