Following on from my recent posts on sandwiches and crisps I feel it is time to consider what beverage should accompany them.

    New School -

    Dr. Pepper
    A&W Root Beer (imported)
Bundaberg Ginger Beer (special events only, feck off expensive from Waitrose)

    Old School -

    Cresta cherryade
    Corona cream soda
Dandelion & Burdock (only ever got this oop north back in the day)

What would you lot wash down your packed lunch with? Has to be non-alky!

Me neither. Never particularly liked fizzy drinks, even as a kid.

Not even Irn Bru? I thought that stuff was as essential as water in Scotlandshire.

    Coke <sniff>

Lucozade is always good for a hangover.

Lilt goes flat after about 2 mins of opening

Ma's lump of ice cream into a glass of lemonade never quite matched the cream soda ya got from the lemonade man

Savile would have got his gold and cigars robbed off him if he came anywhere near our area.

The Lemonade man was shown respect.<ok>

Rio is the ultimate fizzy drink.

Appletiser comes close though, but only out of a glass bottle, the canned stuff tastes like ****e.

Didn't know you could get Appletise in cans. I would have that in pubs when I was a kid, that or the mixer drink Russchian (Sp?).

    We had them all.

Fruitman, baker, butcher, fishman, videoman, laundryman.

Considering the ice-cream man sold cheap fegs and drugs you basically didn't have to leave your area. :)

My yankee Aunt still talks about the day she was over visitin us and the doorbell went and my ma told her to go answer it "It's probably the fruitman". She was oblivious to idea.
