West Ham striker Andy Carroll ruled out with hamstring injury.

West Ham striker Andy Carroll has been ruled out for between five and six weeks with a hamstring injury.

The 23-year-old withdrew from England's World Cup qualifiers against Moldova and Ukraine after limping off 68 minutes into his debut against Fulham.

A scan has revealed that Carroll's hamstring injury is serious, ruling him out of one Capital One Cup and four Premier League games.

    Allardyce praises injured Carroll.

Carroll joined the Hammers on loan from Liverpool last Thursday.

The former Newcastle United forward now faces a race to be fit for England's next World Cup qualifying double-header, against San Marino and Poland, in early October.

England start their qualifying campaign at the Zimbru Stadium in Moldova on Friday, before facing Ukraine at Wembley next Tuesday.

Carroll played a key role in two of West Ham's goals in Saturday's 3-0 win over Fulham.

"We were ready to bring him off and unfortunately on that last jump he got hit by Brede Hangeland," said Hammers boss Sam Allardyce.

Never like to see a player injured, and at least the guy still thinks well of us.

    I'm sorry for the lad.

Don't know exactly why, but after this summer gone by someone is going to have to remind me why I shouldn't like him

Considering what we got with the £35m we got for him I think we owe him a debt of gratitude.

Yep, he has been treated really shoddily by Liverpool and Rodgers. Can't say l was too chuffed to see him go to West Ham. Truth is for me, unless he is wearing the Black and White stripes of NUFC he just does not look right.

Shame about his injury, he was looking something close to his old self when he played against Fulham, their defense simply could not handle him.
I wish him well, except for when and if he turns out against us that is.

The dive was a bit comical and I'm sure he must have regretted it in more than one way afterwards.
