Seems he can do no right at the moment....Where's his next move,,return to the SOL? Darren Bent has apologised after a fan posted a picture claiming the striker was out shopping while his team-mates were losing 2-0 to Liverpool. The Aston Villa forward was missing because of injury but the photo was put on Twitter during the game on Sunday. Later the England striker apologised on his Twitter account. He said: "I hope to be back very soon. Watched the majority of he game on tv. Never knew popping out would cause an issue and for that I apologise." Bent has scored five goals in 15 games for Villa this season but suffered a thigh injury in training. After coming in for criticism from fans on Twitter, Bent wrote: "Nothing is more important to me than playing football, sadly injury meant I wasn't able to do that today. Gutted not to be involved
Villa have only paid us about £5 million for him so far. Anyone fancy Bent back for £5 million? Because, by god, I would. We would shoot up that table with the chances we've been creating and him in the middle. Won't happen, of course, because we can't afford his wages. But nice thought.
Hi Cutey. Where did you get that information about the £5m paid so far? Are we waiting on any other transfer fees?
Hiya Nomad. Niall Quinn told Kildare Radio that we'd only just received enough to pay off what we owed to Spurs for him - which was about £5m. The deal is apparently spread over 3 years. We might have received one more installment since that statement - I don't know. I don't know about other transfers, but installments is the norm these days.
Cheers Cutey. I wonder why we never hear that sort of thing over here? Knowing information like that possibly helps explain why they took the money for Gyan. It would certainly help with the cash flow!
It sure would help with the cash flow. And it keeps an unhappy Gyan on our books, 'just in case' things change at SAFC. And they did change.
