Pompey do not have history on their side when they welcome Charlton to Fratton Park on Saturday (3pm kick-off).

Alain Perrin was the last Blues boss to oversee a victory over the Londoners on home soil and that was back in 2005.

Goals from Yakubu, Steve Stone, Diomansy Kamara and Lomana LuaLua sealed a 4-2 Premier League success in the Frenchman’s first game in charge.

Since then, however, the Addicks have racked up seven consecutive wins on Pompey’s patch – including a 3-1 New Year's Day triumph last term that led to Danny Cowley’s departure.

The hosts are unbeaten at the top of League One, however, and hold a 14-point advantage over their 11th-placed opponents.

Both sides endured cup disappointment last Sunday, with Charlton held to a home draw by eighth-tier Cray Valley Paper Mills.

They have certainly picked up in the league, however, since former Fratton boss Michael Appleton replaced Dean Holden as boss back in September.

He guided them to a 3-2 win at Wigan in their last league outing, with the prolific Alfie May bagging a brace.

    TEAM NEWS
Tino Anjorin (hamstring), Josh Dockerill (knee), Tom Lowery (knee), Connor Ogilvie (ankle) and Anthony Scully (knee) are all sidelined.

Regan Poole (knee) is also a doubt, but Marlon Pack could feature again after returning from an ankle problem.

Chuks Aneke (hamstring), Panutche Camará (hamstring) and Terry Taylor (ankle) are all missing for the visitors, who have just seen May named the League One Player of the Month.

    HEAD TO HEAD
    Overall
    Pompey: 46 wins
    Charlton: 40 wins
    28 draws

    At Fratton Park
    Pompey: 27 wins
    Charlton: 19 wins
    11 draws

That game in 2005 I believe was the day I saw Valient at the cinema in Basingstoke with my mum. Good times.

Also on the Charlton front, the previous season, my mum and I went to Portsmouth v Charlton not long after we moved into our new house in Aldershot. It was a 5:30pm kick off. I hadn't checked the kick off time beforehand so we arrived for 3pm. We lost 2-1, Dario Silva scored our goal.

As for this year, tough game. Would be happy with a draw given our history, but a win would be awesome.

Then of course there's another big game against Oxford next week

Half time whistle goes, and it's 1-0 to Pompey. End to end first half, but we have come on strongly, and deserve the lead.
